Where did you get the isolated instruments?

They were the master tracks exported from Rock Band. I found them on an audio forum. Unfortunately, that site is now down.

he actually used about 4 or 5 guitars during the recording of this track

it is so hard to replicate that sound pete makes come out of a guitar.

it's because of the guitar he's using: a gretsch chet atkins!

He also used one of his Gibson Les Paul Deluxes. The version with mini-humbuckers modified with a DiMarzio Dual Sound super distortion pickup in center position. I'm guessing that is what he used on this track. Don't forget 80% of Townshend playing is his physicallity.

@tjoepatjoep Listen to the isolated track for WGFA or Sea and Sand. Those are played on the Gretsch; this is a totally different sound.
