  • Thank you for saving this memory...

  • Sadly, Bobby Van arrived onscreen in the musical, several years too late.. Imagine him during the mid-4o's, when musicals were at their height..

  • If you're gonna be remembered for something I can't think of anything better than this...

  • Bobby Van. Died much too soon.....such a great talent.

  • I feel every bone in my legs just by watching THIS - just marvelous . . .

  • It yook thrm 2 minutes and 22 seconds to film this scene Gail Elvis MORGAN

  • I wonder how long it took for them to film this scene.

  • @Tubewings It was filmed in one take, in the 80's Ric Ocasek (I think) did a parody/ homage to this dance.

  • @00Bintang oop's it was Peter Wolf

  • @Tubewings On an every day street, they would've put you and me in the nuthouse.. In that wonderfully insane world of the movie musical, we'd be right at home..

  • @zipper179 thank u for saying that. wait what insane world? no it's the wonderful wonderful world of musicals that no one gets nowadays. i'm so depressed, i got thrown into the wrong generation...well maybe not, at least goldfrapp revived this w/ "happiness." if it takes using something from the past to make something good today so be it.

  • @lovemusicsomuch When I referred to the movie musical as an 'insane world', I meant to say it was world of wonderous insanity, a total world of wonderful improbability.. Where else can we sing and dance, in the streets, aboard trains, battleships, in Western saloons, and on Army bases, and, even in the rain! That's why we love musicals so much! Why, where else can Gene Autry, riding Champion on the lone prairie, sing, with a full orchestra, unseen? Look at 'BLAZING SADDLES'..!

  • He's so awesome!

  • Fab!!! He was a great mover.......I love this clip.

  • Great stuff, after watching this I purchased the same outfit and started hopping down the street... Bobby Van was 6'1" I am 6'2" he was a Sagittarius like me BUT he died at age 51 Ooo I get goose bumps thinking about it

  • Just how does one discover they have this particular skill? I love the parrot! And the dog -- so cute!

  • Didn't the J. Geils Band rip off this concept for one of their videos?

  • @jimmybeam5445

Peter Wolf did a parody in 1987

  • @jimmybeam5445 I'dont know about Jgeils..but if you youtube Goldfrapp "Happiness" song you see a video that copied it exactly!..and did it well too!!..cheers

  • Great stuff.

  • @DeanLeonard1

I second that emotion! Next to the Nicola Bros dance to "Jumpin Jive" in Fox's "Stormy Weather", this is my favorite musical dance number. Bobby Van is BEYOND amazing!
