  • Richard Edlund, Denis Muren and John Dykstra changed the face or modern SPFX work in movies. Look them up and read what they've achieved, and then say a silent thank you to all of them whenever you do any SPFX work in your movies.

  • @Tom: Did I get it wrong or is it wrong? You tell that they used the green positive and the blue negative to create a matte, but it is NOT the blue negative you have shown. But even if I combine the shown two images, I never get the matte you have got. Please help! Thanks!

  • lol @ the imitation Star Wars music.

Also that "chroma" is mispelled twice, in two different ways. Won't get many search results that way!

  • can someone make subtitles or wrie this down, cause sometimes i can't get what they say, and i really need it quick!

  • why not watch this after you learn english?

  • @dsstunter: I´ve got the same problem. My native language is not English. Although I´ve lived quite a little while in Australia and had no problems understanding people, but this kind of accent is quite hard to understand. That´s a pitty. Sorry Tom :-/

  • interesting.

  • A LOT of big inaccuracies.

  • This is the type of quality content that needs to be more available. Nice freekin' job, sir!!!

  • great thanks

  • VIDEOMAKER are fabulous ,informative, entertaining and great magazine

  • That was the most compact yet effective demonstration of these processes I've ever seen. Props to your writer, editor, film acquisition people, etc to pull this together for a YouTube budgeted 6-minute short.

I think this is hands down the best instructional video demo I have seen on YouTube ever.

So, speaking of credits of the unsung behind the scenes, who were the people who made this video?

  • very cool :)

  • cool

  • VERY Interesting! I've always wondered how they used to to chroma keying back in vintage films. Thanks for this video :)

  • cool
