Bonjovigirl probably did mean that, because she has nothing to do with his ex-wife. But how could she know what would eventually happen to Katie Evans? Oh, and Ms. Evans filed for divorced in 2007, not a few years ago, and they were still married (although separated) when she died, not yet divorced.

Conrad wrote Heart of Darkness. Melville wrote Moby Dick. He made a screw-up. Other than that, though, it's a very educated speech.
