Great shot, you can tell it is far by the range finder and you can count a little past 1 Mississippi/or 1 one thousand which, given a rifles general 2,800 to 3,000 plus muzzle Ft. per Sec, and how it slows down to the 1,000 mark at 800 it all fits in well. Many say they are far yet the shot and reaction of the deer when it is hit are well below what it should be at the range many say. This is true from all aspects.

i remember how funny i shot a deer at 597 meters away with my m-14 open sight

i was about to shoot a black bear in the mountain top in a open field 300 meters away and suddenly the bear run and i shoot 3 times i missed all my shots because the bear run through the woods for cover but the funny thing is 200+ meters away from the bear i hit a deer in the chest inch from the heart accidentally that's why now i shoot safely it may ricochet to a person next time.

That was very awesome,considering I missed my deer at 500 yards. I'm going to have to agree with cdlcheck. I'd like to know more about the Nikon; At what distance was the rifle and scope zero'd; What kind of Nikon scope was used; The type of ammunition.
