THIS IS NOT A PET, IT HAS HIS TEETH REMOVED BY THE PET TRADERS AND HIS FAMILY ALSO HAS SUFFERED AND BEING KILLED SO HE CAN BE A PET OF A SILLY PERSON LIKE YOU
The slow loris is the world's only poisonous primate. Its venom is stored in an elbow patch: the loris will suck in the poison from the patch, then mix it around in its mouth before delivering a toxic bite. So, when illegal traders catch them and sell them on, they usually remove the hapless creatures' teeth - with wire cutters. If ever an animal needed to be fast, it is the slow loris.
welll i hope this guy has a great life. i know that many animals lives have been saved because of humans. we keep them going and keep producing so they keep going on heck yeah. i dont like how they kill certain animals that are going excinct...
@Bubblesgirl2 They're only legal for pets in Russia I believe. I'm 15 and work as a loris feeder in the USA and I play with them while feeding them... If you're not out of college volunteer at your local zoo if you wanna play with these little guys. They're very cool. However, they're housed behind tinted glass, in shade so their eyes aren't hurting so it's a little dark but you get used to it. I'm not gonna be a zoologist though haha! Pediatric Neurosurgeon here!`
@GZxModzz They're not legal anywhere, they're protected worldwide. There is an international ban on trading these animals for commercial purposes as stated by the CITES appendix. Also, I highly doubt a 15 year-old is a Loris breeder. Especially in the states.
@GZxModzz But do you actually actively participate in their breeding program? If so, you're just a feeder. Also, no they're not. I read all of the cites appendixes, the ban has been active since January 2007.
It is threatened with extinction due to a growing demand in the exotic pet trade, and has become one of the most abundant primate species on sale at Indonesian pet markets. Its teeth are often pulled out before being sold as pets which can result in infection and/or death, this process makes reintroduction to the wild impossible. It also suffers from habitat loss, which has been severe in the areas in which it is found.
@randeng But even if it remains in the wild, it eventually gets hunted down by the locals as traditional medicine. Until the government can be relied upon as to conserve these animals, it's better they be traded to owners who want them than be tortured and killed for their body parts as to make "medicine." It's the lesser of the two evils.
@nawazshiraj Except these owners are ignorant of their medical needs. Even in this video they're in a wire cage, which seriously damages their delicate and unique circulatory system.
He's absolutely gorgeous... but owning one is mother fucking disgrace!!!
Not only is it an endangered specie - Slow lorises have their teeth cut or pulled out for the pet trade, and often die from infection, blood loss, or poor handling.
@WeeManLeeambo So.. If somebody breaks in to your house and kidnaps you, pull out your teeth and put you in a cage - but gives you food and pad you on the head - then it's all ok.. because they take care of you?
@WeeManLeeambo He is right you know? The things these animals go through on the illegal pet market (and yes it is illegal because these animals are endangered) before they MAYBE if they are extremely lucky, end up at a person that knows what they need and how they need to be treated. But in most cases they end up at some rich kid who think they look cute and end up with an animal they cant handle correctly. Dextc is speaking the truth and the people who buy these animals should be ashamed
@pepparmostheelder he looks likes hes being treated quite well its not like hes getting fed pet food or something... its organic centipedes or whatever insect that is and if it is bought illegally then maybe this person is trying to rescue it from malnourishment and so forth so stfu and enjoy its cuteness
@GUITARxxLEGEND Yes I know, but if everyone just did like you said and "stfu and enjoy its cuteness" all the time then things would never change and millions more animals would have to suffer. Am not saying that this animal had its teeth and claws pulled out but the fact is that these animals are endangered and trying to promote keeping one as pet will encourage people to allow it. Its still illegal to own one and for good reasons, and people should not be encourage to buy one
For anybody who's curious about how is this animal abused before it gets to the hands of its owners: Type In Youtube's Search Engine "SLOW LORIS ANIMAL CRUELTY"
"The only reason the loris isn't biting the person holding it in the video is because it has had its teeth ripped out with pliers," said Chris Shepherd of Traffic Southeast Asia, which campaigns against the trade in primates.
Although the creature may look happy, it submits to being tickled as a passive defence-mechanism to deal with stress.
The loris is a nocturnal animal and is effectively being blinded by the daylight in the videos.
@ekulaluke Flag yourself ! Video is cool, animal is cute... they give him food, tickle him and whatsoever.... what shall they do beat him and eat him alive instead... cuz thats whats gonna happen to him in the open wild most likely. Yeah it's nocturnal animal (we kinda ll know this) ... doesnt seem very nocturnal if it's awake tho. You make no sense and besides how do people know what's good for animals if we can't speak their language.
Sonya is super cute, however what in the world are you doing with a wild animal as a pet in a tiny, hamster cage???? The poor thing, that is so cruel. And illegal, no??
Slow lorises are threatened by deforestation & the exotic pet trade, are hunted for their large eyes as local traditional medicine, turned into a wine said to alleviate pain, often eaten dried or smoked for food. They are listed as "Vulnerable" "Endangered" by the IUCN. An illegal pet in Japan and United States. Popularity due to popular YouTube videos showing them being tickled.
Google "slow loris + wiki". Read the wiki about them for yourselves...
@movietrs this isnt ur video asshole. anyone watching this go to the orginal video by dimitry and post ur arguments there and i will combat with anyone who is against owning these beloved animals.
Aww, in a way, I feel sorry for those worms or whatever they are, instant death :( And in another way, it's cute that he is enjoying it, is happy, anddd shows us how he is finished :P
they get their teeth ripped out cus they are poisonious. and they are SUPPOSE to live on tree sap not meal worms. most die in captivity because all the malnurishment and mis-treatment. this one will probably die. its really not cute. google it
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWH!!! How charming is that little girl!. I didnt absolutely like Slow Lorises in pictures, but they are so funny and cute moving xD
Non mais vous êtes barge ou quoi? C'est un lémurien de Madagascar, que fout-il dans une cage? sa place est dans une réserve naturelle et non une cage à lapin! On devrait vous poursuivre en justice pour des actes pareils!!!
The Slow Loris is undoubtedly one of the cutest animal species ever but it surely has to be wrong to keep it in captivity especially as it is endangered. This one seems to be loved and cared for very much but is it really happy... who knows??
Surprised it can still eat after having it's teeth pulled out...people who keep Slow Loris as pets, therefore supporting the illegal capture and trade of them are just sick.
for those people who say "if you are a true animal lover, then you would let it go free," consider this: maybe it isn't easy for this animal to survive in the wild, so maybe keeping it iniside is doing it a favor. afterall, it is a SLOW loris. you have to consider that as well
of course you cant release it once it has been tamed, thats why you leave it in the wild to begin with. haha the fact it is called SLOW loris has nothing to do with it. loads of animals are slow, doesnt mean they need to be 'rescued' by humans. IDIOT
ok so what about its name, that truly is besides the point. you dont know if it even was surviving in the wild. perhaps it is on the verge on becoming instinct, so maybe your the idiot?
okay great. so have you like, googled it or something? you dont know anything blatantly, if it was becoming extinct it would most likely be due to people intefering with its natural environment in the first place. im not saying its wrong for this animal to be kept as a pet, its darn cute, but i think your original comment was dumb, seeing as you know nothing valid about it.
@0wn2d you're completely right, any time things seems dangerous or risky you should just hunker down and hide, thats how progress happens right? its called survival of the fittest
@0wn2d good point... if it cant survive in the wild, how is keeping it as a well fed loved happy pet doing anything any harm? im pretty sure my dog wouldnt survive two weeks in "the wild" up here...
@bigsky89 A domesticated dog that is specifically bred to be a pet and a primate that lives in Madagascar are two completely different things. A Slow Loris is not a pet, it was not made to be a pet. And if it could not survive in the wild unless we just swoop down and save it, it wouldn't exist. Clearly it exists, for now at least, so it can survive in the wild.
@dirtyred7450 call me what you want, but id rather see something survive in a cage than go extinct in the wild. im sure anyone who actually appreciates the animals of our planet and the fact that some of them can no longer survive in their natural habitat (its called evolution, it happens.) would appreciate that a species that exists only in captivity is better than a species that exists only in textbooks and youtube videos. and dogs werent always bred to be pets.
@bigsky89 Actually, while some animals can't survive in the wild, clearly this animal CAN survive in the wild. The Slow Loris is in no danger of extinction in it's natural habitat. The only real threats to it is deforestation and hunting of it for it's eyes, which humans do. So really the only ones to blame if the Slow Loris became extinct is ourselves, because the Slow Loris can clearly survive without the interference of humans.
@MystiqueHorizon one species overtaking other species, humans tend to forget that were just animals too... its all just evolution at work. doesnt make it right, or fun, or cute, but then nature is nice or fun or cute.
I'm all for looking after animals, but one thing you said worried me. 'Maybe it isn't easy for the animal to survive in the wild'.
Why do you think its here? Its because its successful in its own right and their survival as a population is in delicate balance with the environment. Its totally capable or surviving without us keeping it caged.
@jphavens JUST FOR YOUR INFORMATION I'M ALSO AGAINST THAT STUPID THING, that's unhuman, keeping animals like dogs and cats inside 4 freaking walls it's a crime against nature, people are stupid and think that they can control anything/everything

I don't think they should be pets since they're endangered. they should be out where they can reproduce(healthily)

for those people who say "if you are a true animal lover, then you would let it go free," consider this: maybe it isn't easy for this animal to survive in the wild, so maybe keeping it iniside is doing it a favor. afterall, it is a SLOW loris. you have to consider that as well
0wn2d 2 years ago 18
of course you cant release it once it has been tamed, thats why you leave it in the wild to begin with. haha the fact it is called SLOW loris has nothing to do with it. loads of animals are slow, doesnt mean they need to be 'rescued' by humans. IDIOT
lovePARAMOREx 1 year ago
ok so what about its name, that truly is besides the point. you dont know if it even was surviving in the wild. perhaps it is on the verge on becoming instinct, so maybe your the idiot?
0wn2d 1 year ago
okay great. so have you like, googled it or something? you dont know anything blatantly, if it was becoming extinct it would most likely be due to people intefering with its natural environment in the first place. im not saying its wrong for this animal to be kept as a pet, its darn cute, but i think your original comment was dumb, seeing as you know nothing valid about it.
lovePARAMOREx 1 year ago
@0wn2d you're completely right, any time things seems dangerous or risky you should just hunker down and hide, thats how progress happens right? its called survival of the fittest
Bonerator 1 year ago
@0wn2d good point... if it cant survive in the wild, how is keeping it as a well fed loved happy pet doing anything any harm? im pretty sure my dog wouldnt survive two weeks in "the wild" up here...
bigsky89 1 year ago
@bigsky89 A domesticated dog that is specifically bred to be a pet and a primate that lives in Madagascar are two completely different things. A Slow Loris is not a pet, it was not made to be a pet. And if it could not survive in the wild unless we just swoop down and save it, it wouldn't exist. Clearly it exists, for now at least, so it can survive in the wild.
dirtyred7450 9 months ago
@dirtyred7450 call me what you want, but id rather see something survive in a cage than go extinct in the wild. im sure anyone who actually appreciates the animals of our planet and the fact that some of them can no longer survive in their natural habitat (its called evolution, it happens.) would appreciate that a species that exists only in captivity is better than a species that exists only in textbooks and youtube videos. and dogs werent always bred to be pets.
bigsky89 9 months ago
@bigsky89 Actually, while some animals can't survive in the wild, clearly this animal CAN survive in the wild. The Slow Loris is in no danger of extinction in it's natural habitat. The only real threats to it is deforestation and hunting of it for it's eyes, which humans do. So really the only ones to blame if the Slow Loris became extinct is ourselves, because the Slow Loris can clearly survive without the interference of humans.

@bigsky89 it's not called evolution smart-ass, it's called deforestation, poaching, and smugglers.
MystiqueHorizon 2 months ago
@MystiqueHorizon one species overtaking other species, humans tend to forget that were just animals too... its all just evolution at work. doesnt make it right, or fun, or cute, but then nature is nice or fun or cute.

@0wn2d
I'm all for looking after animals, but one thing you said worried me. 'Maybe it isn't easy for the animal to survive in the wild'.
Why do you think its here? Its because its successful in its own right and their survival as a population is in delicate balance with the environment. Its totally capable or surviving without us keeping it caged.

its not a small cage it has a back where he sleeps

@traker42 Don't you think that cats and dogs used to do something other than whatever humans want. Get over it.
jphavens 1 year ago
@jphavens JUST FOR YOUR INFORMATION I'M ALSO AGAINST THAT STUPID THING, that's unhuman, keeping animals like dogs and cats inside 4 freaking walls it's a crime against nature, people are stupid and think that they can control anything/everything
