All I see here is an effective weapon being used against the enemy. Depleted Uranium is not a "nuclear weapon." Their primary use(used in the role of a weapon) is the destruction of material/soldiers through kinetic energy. DU is used in the coloring of consumer products, and aircraft may contain "trim-weights" made of DU, between 400-1,500 kg of it. It's a bit ridiculous to blame the radiating effects of DU for anything since it's radioactivity is extremely low. The author of this has faked the numbers a bit. 1 gram of DU (a significant amount of dust) releases 13 alpha particles per second, not 12000.

you are right, it does seem to downplay the dangers of Du, but until we find out why birth defects have risen and why so many people are crippled with gulf war syndrome, its use must be halted.
