  • @Techn0taku Taking a stab in the dark. Wipeout maybe?

  • 1st racing game I ever played was F-Zero on SNES. Kinda miss it xD

  • Great memories , there was an arcade down the street from my house and i played all of these games as a kid. We also played all those games from ATARI,SEGA,COLECO,ODYSSEY game consoles , being a kid back then was a lot of fun. I also believe you forgot to mention a few like "Spy Hunter" and "Road Blasters" they were a lot of fun too.

  • Is there a reason why you skipped the Micro Machines series? Great show regardless dude.

  • The first racing game, that had gotten me started to racing games entirely was Top Gear in the SNES. I always played that game a lot at my cousin's house. The soundtrack was amazing for its time. It was a really underrated racing game. Now majority of my videogame collection, is racing games. My favorite racing game franchises of all time are: Gran Turismo, Test Drive, Midnight Club, Ridge Racer, and Need For Speed. Cool video man!

  • very interesting thanks

  • brilliant video some very interesting points

  • g'day MJR. Racing destruction set on C64 is one of my favourites from the 1980's

been playing it since 1984. weapons like oil slicks and land mines, ice, dirt and pavement surfaces, track editor, jumps. it had it all. rc pro am II and rock n roll racing I consider to be unofficial sequels to it.

  • Im so glad you mentioned pole position in the Judas priest vid! \m/

  • super skidmarks for the amiga, classic game.

  • Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge.....

  • This video series was great! This isn't a "WHY U NO..." inclusion comment, but did you ever play Stunt Car Racer for the PC? I think it was on the Amiga, too. Great game.

  • @Harmon1ca - I played a version of Stunt Car Racer on the C64, and I remember thinking it was pretty cool...but the frame rate was slow. I bet it was better on the Amiga... Wasn't everything better on the Amiga? :)

  • no motor roader from the PC engine?

  • Awesome. Thanks.

  • Namco's Winning Run is listed as 1988 (earlier than hard drivin), it was an arcade with 3d graphics and motion cockpit etc. Bloody difficult to play for a lil kid let me tell ya.

  • Subscripted and Liked it. Great Videos!

  • No video footage of Gran Trak 10??

    Here it is:

    watch?v=YIcwjn8Tdbo

    Fast forward to 6:56

  • Dude, this was totally RAD. Great job with this series of vids! Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff for sure.

  • Thanks for the message reminding me about this video. I new about it when you posted it, but I got too busy and it fell off my list. Glad I didn't miss it. Great Video and I'm looking forward to part 2.

  • Loved the video.

Maybe these weren't worth a mention but are still great driving games :

C64 - Kick Start 2. Grand Prix. And some other game where you drive trucks round a dirt track and get turbos and stuff.

    Sega Genesis/Megadrive/SNES - Mirco Machines

    Sega - Super Monaco

  • Monaco GP anyone????????

  • Stunt Car Racer is also a nice classic :)

  • Hey! I have a question do you know what games are where you have picture or a photo and you have enemys and have to get picture completed i used to play those a lot with coin machines if you know something i would appreciate it!Thank you!

  • Off topic question; what do you use to cover your consoles and keep them protected from hazards like dust? Besides that any advice on maintaining games and hardware would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  • @wreckless4485 - I do a combination of things: I bought clear plastic boxes from Target that were cheap and then cut holes in the back. I then place them over the consoles with the cords sticking out the back. They come off quick and easy and cost only a couple dollars The other thing I do with some consoles that are in the entertainment center is cover them with nice large cloth napkins. They are dark red and embroidered, so they look nice and are big enough to cover the original XBOX.

  • @MetalJesusRocks oh i remember this... i played on my 1st PC !!!

  • Nice video, I play pit stop at my brothers house a lot :) If your into modern racing games I highly recommend the Motorstorm series :)

  • Great video... I played Pole Position of course on the C64, but I also played it in a real F1 on huge retroprojector screen... That was awesome...

You also mention Hard Drivin, but hey... I hope you will talk of the most amazing game who defined a genre : Stunts - 4D Sports Driving ! Be sure not to forget it :p

  • damn i forgot all about pole position. i remember playing that when i was little on the game namco museum for the original playstation.

  • I played Test Drive 2 to death on the Commodore 64. Buggy Boy - a lot time played on this and Road Blasters was a brilliant conversion on the Commodre 64. Lotus Espirit was pretty decent on the Sega Megadrive/Genesis too. Thanks for the video.

  • Metal Jesus Rocks - you do!, I love your videos.

  • Some great memories here. I remember on my first holiday they had an arcade with Hang on, unfortunately I wasn't big enough to turn the bike so some stranger ended up helping me turn!

Didn't Outrun also include a fan for a wind effect?

Maybe could have included micro machines, playing that with my buddy was so much fun.

  • Looks good, ive been playing classics and old consoles from 3-8 and becaue of this i found out the name of one game i fell in love with before Excitebike...... I just fell in love with it. Man you can really see the diff. between the games of before and of the past.... I still play the old ones though.... I feel lighter whenever i play it, so their like Stress relievers

  • Not sure if you had an Amiga, but Lotus 2 (1991) was (I believe) the first racing game you could play at home that was 4 players (2 Amiga's connected via null modem cable, split screen). One of my personal favorites. Gremlin later came out with Whiplash (Fatal Racing), which was my all time favorite DOS racer.

  • No mention of Spy Hunter? Really!

  • @brementer - It's the one game I really struggled to leave out. For a while it was in, because it's the obvious choice. In the end, I left it out because there isn't a Finish Line like the others. There is no real "race". But it IS a "driving" game...

  • Actually played Rally X on the 360 not that long ago, great game when you think about how long ago it was made. A friend had Excitebike, But I sucked at it. Great video man!

  • Very nice collection. Though I was hoping to see Road Fighter for NES (which probably is my all-time favourite racing game for the system). But very nice nonetheless, can't wait for the next part. ;)

  • Nice list. Hurry up with the next weeks video :D

  • Someone please help me remember the name of a late 80's early 90's arcade racing game. You rode on it, and it was a futuristic racer, you were in a red vehicle and you could get armor upgrades that would attach and change your appearance, and every time you hit a wall or something a piece of your vehicle would break off....does this sound familiar to anyone?

  • That was awesome. I have played a few of those over the years.

  • it was fantastic.

  • Awesome Jesus. As a 80s arcade kid, loved your mention of my fav racing game Turbo and mention of Commodre 64 which i played a crap out of. Your series is great!

  • Well done. Be sure to mention Nascar 2003 by Sierra!!!

  • ROAD RASH LOL

  • and also Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off-Road :)

  • you covered most of the games i grew up with but id like to mention also Power Drift on commodore and also Street Rod on PC excellent games and looking forward to part 2

  • Outrun looks like a fun game and so does Chase HQ.

  • Very cool my friend! great idea, such a big history. I remember Enduro racer on 2600 probably one of my first faves, then Rad Racer on NES. Never been much into anything too "simulation" like, I prefer arcade racing type. Road Rash, don't even get me started! Me and my bud LOVED that.

  • man, Pole Position looks AMAZING for 1982! Sadly I'm 11, so I wasen't arround to play it.

  • Woulden't it be great if they made a game that magicly blended the genes of RPGs, Racing, Fighting, Platforming, and Tower defence into one amazing fantastic game of amazingness?

  • Nice video

  • you rock...
