@zerga303 You CAN paint like that. There is no great skill there, just a bunch of tricks and things. Once you know those you can paint anything you want. I bet you can do one better than mine. Thanks for the kind words.
@Shiznaft1 if you try it you will defiantly want to brush the water effects on and not pour it on, but i would also do a test base to see how it effects the paints you used and to see how much or how little it changes the colors. because even using a small amount of water effects can cause the original colors to not appear quite the same. Not like changing the colors but they just don't show through that well. Also i would spray a matt coat over the area so it dose not re-wet the paint.
Very nice job. I specially liked the reflectionlight you painted on from the lava. Just an idea if you want to paint more lavabases, instead of lavaflows you could paint some red cracks crossing the landscape of the base :)
You should put the Kawasaki "Vulcan" logo and name on it, I would say Harley but Vulcan was the god of blacksmithing and he lived in a volcano, so it totally fits.
nice job with the lighting effects they look really good. thx for all the good videos so far i just started a chaos army about 3 weeks ago and your videos really help. keep up the good work mate!
You lost me. What's the point of what? Buy what Game? Are you talking about Dawn of War? If so, that game is an adaptation of a TableTop Game (i.e. utilizing miniatures) and I did buy the game. That is what inspired the miniature army. The tabletop game came out in the eighties and has been going strong for a long time. That is the point of that.
It is a turn based strategy game. Each person places their army on the board and then the figures move according to their rules and then they shoot (resolving hits and misses with dice). "wounded" models are removed from the board the games last from 5 to 7 turns with each player acting in each turn. Then at the end of the game a winner is determined based on the conditions of the "mission". The models are metal or plastic and come unpainted. Part of the hobby is painting the figures. That help?
I wish I knew. I don't use the GW paints. There are color charts out there that will show you the equivalent color in Reaper Vallejo and GW... I just can't remember them. Try google with like "GW to Reaper color chart" There is also a tool that shows the colors, again can't remember...
You are my Leader, i love your works, i do a dark angel army, barly started and i needed some painting advice, thanks to your paint tutorials i have that. THANK YOU!
Hey orkboy44, Thanks for the comment check out the entire video and I show you all the colors that I use. Look at 2:24 I list the colors from the reaper line.
Base coat Blood Stain then blend clotted red into it then add layers of "hotter" colors as you move toward the hotter parts. So go gradually from deep red/black "coolest" to white "hottest", as I have learned from my fellow YouTubers it is best to ad lots of random hot and cold spots, but try to make it logical, that is to say lava 'flows' so make it follow a winding or meandering path...
From what i can see it looks next to flawless. A person already commented on how it needs to be varied. At the moment it looks like superheated plasma like from youe earlier vid with the dead marine. See if you cant give it a more earthy feel, after all its molten rock. You could always try sticking small peices of 'rock' into the larger sections of lava to show some of the coler stuff is floating on the surface. Really good basing however.
WOW! Truely amazing job! Please , keep up the great work! I'm realatively new to miniature painting, I hope to eventually be at least half as good as you!
I just got started. You will definately be as good as me if not better. I did a lot of reading and research prior to painting. Read a lot of threads on the Warseer project forum...etc.
wow that is really good man!! the only possible thing i think you could do to make it better is to make the lava have a little bit less yellow ( a little more red tones) and occasionally in the lave make it so that there is splotches of colder lava (because lava is never a perfect range of colour) in the hotter lava
Great Comment! I noticed that as well and tried to rationalize it by saying, it's more liquid over there... uuuuhhhh or somthing. You are right though I will need to develope more comfort with the technique and than I think I can create a more varied effect(i.e. more realistic. Thanks!
daaaaaamn, sweet base :P
