I remember using this rifle when I was in the Danish military. It was a modified version of the original German G3 called G3A5(named M/75 here in Denmark). It was a bit heavier so it was easier to control when in full auto.. still had an awesome punch to it though.

I believe it's been completely outsourced now in both the military and national guard. The new rifles are Colt Canada's C7A1(M/95) and C8A1(M/96).

@Rondaxx If you are familiar with it you don't need anyone else to help but it is still a hand full you have to get on it from the begining or it will get away from you. Patricia has no fear and will shoot anything. She can handle all but a couple of my guns with out help. This video was cut for an orentation vido to show novices what to expect when shooting Full Auto. It also shows those who would rent their guns how to handle a novice shooting so that they can do it safely.

@Rondaxx i regulary shoot my 30-06....i shot g3, 308....too much recoil.... i was near to buy it... but... it has big difect...too much light....it needs more weight, in fire burst (in italy we can't have) it's very far to get precise shot on target....one single shot (sniper) it's good enough...but not like is son psg

there are HK 91's around.

You can get an HK-91 (but they're very, very expensive, and most of them are worn out) or you can get a PTR-91. PTRs are made by HK licensed machinery, but they're made in the USA. It's basically an HK without HK's name on it. If that doesn't bother you, then that's an excellent route to go. Some people prefer PTRs to the original HK-91s. It just depends on who you ask.

Yes it is. In full auto it's a handful. That gun has a 4 position burst lower on it which helps with control. of all the full auto 308's that I've shot the G3 is the lightist which makes it harder to control. When in FA you have to get on top of it from the start or you will go off target.

They are an effective battle rifle but usualy a 308 rifle would usualy be like an M-60 or an HK21 or 21E gun which would be more efective but some militaries do use them as their main battle rifle.

G3 was in service with Germany until they got the G36, and its currently used by Iran. Embargoes make new weapons hard to get.

I'm working presently on converting a trommel mag for that gun and the 51B. That will make 75 rounds available.

You cocked the gun wrong...

1) Pull back the bolt and put it on the catch.

2) Insert the magazine...

3) Put the bolt back off the catch.
