  • quit lagging behind you fools myself included start RUNNING~~!!!!!!!!

  • we were a stroke of luck. we were a goldmine and they gutted us.

holy shit, this line is so so so powerful. woah.

  • Stray Dog Freedom? You heard that too?

  • sad record.

  • Bright eyes rocks my freaking world

  • Why do people always refer to Bright Eyes plural?

  • @TheWhitelightrecords If you mean Bright Eyes having more than one member, it's because they have more than one official member. It used to be the moniker for Conor Oberst and a revolving cast of musicians, but Mike Mogis and Nate Wallcott were named "official members" around the time Cassadaga was coming out, if i remember correctly.

  • @TheWhitelightrecords Because Bright Eyes is plural. It's a band.

  • This is such a damn good song, especially on very long bus/train rides.

  • @johnmorisi8 .......I agree its an awesome song. But for long train rides? its only 4 minutes long

  • @Porojukaha

well, the whole album is good... but if you play this one a little bit more excessively than others... then yes

  • I really like this song. I don't know why.

  • I wonder if this is the same dead woman he talks about in several of his songs, like "don't know when but a day is gonna come"

This is such gut-wrenching sadness, his metaphor for death was gorgeous and brilliant

  • lets have a nice clean cut like a bag we buy and divvy up

  • Heart <3

  • Near the end, I caught myself bopping my head to the beat without realising it.

  • Perfect Sonnet is good, his best album is this one though the musical elements are just incredible and hearing this and Arc of Time and Take It Easy all live were mesmerizing. Hit The Switch is way more depressing than Amy in the White Coat, which is super annoying when its on your ipod six different times despite being considered "rare". My personal favorite song is The Entry Way Song though, it is fantastic in its simplicity.

  • pretty much a perfect tune.

  • like a bag we buy and divvy up

  • We were perfect in Germany. Time and this culture gutted us. "We were a stroke of luck."

  • Stray dog freedom

  • Lets have a nice clean cut

  • this is my dog's favorite song. (i'm not lying, you should see the video of her dancing to this.)

  • I have this album on vinyl, and it is such a good old friend. I get it out every Christmas

  • I love this song so much. I'm getting a quote from it tattooed on my arm.

  • @TheBrightEyesatheist Which one?

  • @TheKiddem We were a Gold mine, they gutted us.

  • @TheBrightEyesatheist Which line are you getting tattooed? :)

  • @TheBrightEyesatheist what line did you get?

  • @TheBrightEyesatheist Want to know the only thing more annoying than religious fanatics who incessantly talk about the Bible and put things like "rebornchristian" as their usernames? Atheists who do the same thing. Please, no one cares about your religion. And yes atheism is a religion. The only NONreligion would be agnosticism, because you arent declaring a belief in anything, thus you are dealing with facts. Everyone else, atheists included, are working off of faith and opinion and speculation

  • @Porojukaha 1. Atheism isn't a religion. Religion by definition :The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, esp. a personal God or gods. Do atheists believe in any superhuman power? no. At least agnostics acknowledge that the idea of "God" is possible. Your whole post is invalid.

  • @Porojukaha He didn't reference anything about his atheism in his comment. In fact what business is it of yours?

Way to create unnecessary confrontations, asshole.

  • @Porojukaha Your wrong. Atheism is a religion as much as not collecting stamps is a hobby. Please educate yourself before speaking so arrogantly.

  • eerie.

  • chills every time!

  • One of the best opening lyrics ive heard. And the smoke came out our mouths on all those hooded sweatshirt walks. Beautiful

  • "Let's have a nice clean cut like a bag we buy and divvy up. And from the sidelines I see you run until you're out of breath. And all those white lines that sped us up, we hurry to our death. Well I lagged behind so you got ahead."

One of my favorite verses on the whole CD. It reminds me of days long ago when I was addicted to Coke. I love Conor because of this. He's amazing and isn't afraid to sing about personal experiences, one of the many reasons why I've been a fan for 10yrs.

  • i really love this album, I can listen to it not only for great lyrics but also for the music behind em

  • amazing song...so poetic

  • But you think about yourself too much

And you ruin who you love

    I love that line.

  • one of his more experimental albums, i dig

  • bazillion plus

  • the subliminals

  • thank you so much for your digital ash songs. this album is so f*ing good

  • @gp988 Possibly one of the best. Dance Floor Rarities is also amazing. Two of their best songs I will Be Greatful for This Day (I will be Grateful for Each Day) and Amy in the White Coat.

  • @TheThemeToPinata Amy in the White Coat churns my stomach and my soul... Conor Oberst is an AMAZING song wirter and story teller- No Lies Just Love is an intense intense song that completly changed my life.

  • Amy in the White Coat is the most depressing song ever. Good song nevertheless.

My fave is A Perfect Sonnet. But there is so much great stuff to choose from.

  • @TheThemeToPinata amy in the white coat gets so annoying after the first 50 times you listen to it.
