I sympathize for individuals who cannot find work because of this "unemployed longer than six months" bullshit.
What's even worse: when you apply for a fast-food job (hey, gotta make money somehow), and when they take a look at your resume, the fucking hiring manager denies you because "you're over-qualified."
I'm very fortunate to be a part of the Canadian Army Primary Reserves, but Jesus Christ, give the unemployed a break! What are we supposed to do?
I sympathize for these individuals. Sure there some people out there that just love to brag about how they're able to find jobs quickly and accuse people like us for being undedicated and lazy. They're arrogant and so are employers. Even some retraining and on-the-job training programs have rigid eligibility requirements that make it difficult for some unemployed people to get back to work. It's just freaking ridiculous. What the hell's wrong with this society and government. Can't understand.
I agree. Even people with college degrees are struggling to find work. It makes it harder when the government is saying the economy is improving when it really isn't.
I do not understand how you kept your anger under control and presented calmly. Its been 3 years for me... sort of a different situation from yours, but I definitely feel and relate to your frustration.
One thing though, you can't live off unemployment benefits ...they do not last that long.
@akmark5000 My unemployment benefits ran out in early January. I've been ruining my credit rating by using by credit cards to pay bills and rent since then. My sister helped me this month. A few more interviews lately but no job offers yet.. two pending in the 'we're still choosing people in the next round of interviews' phase. Good luck to you.
How's that hope and change working for ya buddy? Just so you know, US unemployment is down to 9.7 percent, but CA unemployment is up to 12.7 percent. But don't worry, I'm sure your life will get better after Brown raises taxes. You're about to find out what it's like to live in a state run from top to bottom by taxaholic left-wingers, while the rest of the country pulls out of the muck.
Shit... willing to work and work hard don't get you far in America. You need to be innovative, smart, and constantly improving yourself JUST TO KEEP YOUR JOB.
@jedistar you do know the government is just messing with the economy because they are greedy and they will turn things around at the last moment then everything will be back to normal for a while.
Well.... do you have a masters degree? Did mommy and daddy paid your way through school or did you have to work you way through out college? Ever tried getting your degree, and then trying to find a job along with paying the high interest school loans as you worry about how you're going to pay for your cost of living? Don't be a smart ass, someone should drag your punk ass out and beat the shit out of you.
@nickintp There are different paths out there for resourceful individuals. Some get good grades and obtain scholarships, others work their way to the top and of course some are fortunate enough to have rich parents. I got my HS diploma and started as a tech for a Cable company, I used the education assistance money offered by my company to get my degree. Now I am a engineering manager. You on the other hand did not really take the initiative to improve yourself. Now you are paying for it.
hey you can't say that. Everybody has a different story and everybody is different. You can't expect everybody to be on the constantly improving boat.

the best is when the job posting has a huge list of requirements and then they offer $8 an hour
