  • I heard the procedure is quick and fairly painless but the recovery is 10 days of the worst sore throat you will ever have.

  • this is fcking stupid. Exercise regularly and eat proper. You can drop the sleep apnea. use the machine if u must but you can make positive changes (I know this from personal experience)

  • This is from Canada and she said 3 times there is a waiting list for the sleep study. Of course, government healthcare is way better than what is in America (this was sarcasm)... Now before everyone from Canada gets mad at me let me say what Canada does is it's own affair. I can say this type of healthcare just will not do in America. I got my sleep study and a CPAP in a week...

  • SLEEP APNEA EXERCISES CAN HELP ALOT . go to the link below

  • I was prescribed a CPAP for moderate apena but you know something, that horrible, terribly unconfortable machine cannot be the only solution for this condition. It looks to me that these CPAP bussiness is something Social Securty arrange with some doctors that bring them to make money using the patients. And they make you believe it is the only thing they got. With this fast and profitable for them solution, it is not rare that there are almost no other solution.

  • in 8 years as a sleep tech i never had one patient that came back from the surgery and did not have sleep apnea. For some of them it was even worse due to scar tissue. DO NOT HAVE A SURGERY....GET A CPAP. I have been in sleep for 8 years and I use CPAP. It there was something out there better I think I would already be on it. TRUST ME

  • Unfortunatley this guys completely correct. Ive just started out with the mask thing and tbh im finding it a bit claustraphoboic - i woke up 03.00 last night with it blasting in my face and paniced and tore it off heh.

Hopefully ill settle down with it, but im thinking theres thing that just goes into your mouth instead of covering whole face, this sounds more my thing.

Woke up a few times during the night maybe to me changing postion and mask slipping? But ill persvere...

  • @Benwell1 have you tried nasal pillows?

  • @airtexaco Nope lost six stone in nine months last year instead ha. After commencing with CPAP i got the energy levels to go to gym and found Spinning cardio workouts - I recommend for obsese people as it protects your knees/joints etc is low impact, but burned that fat off big time. CPAP is now RIP :)

  • @Benwell1 That's awesome-Congratulations!

  • What can I do? Does sleeping upright help? Adjusting sleep postition? Aromatherapy? Exercise? What can help?

  • You need a CPAP.

This is a mask with a tube connected to a machine, which you wear while sleeping.

It blows air under pressure into your airways so it can't collapse.

    Go to a doctor.

He can send you for a sleep test in a sleep lab.

Only when you have sleep apnea bad enough they can prescribe you such mask.

You can not buy one on your own from a retailer (try Ebay, or other used stuff. Google "Used medical equipment").

  • If you buy one yourself, you should educate yourself about the use, and settings of the machine.

There are enough forums on the internet about that matter.

I bought a CPAP myself also.

I couldn't live without it anymore.

Some people love it, others just hate it.

  • Do not buy used medical equipment as you will have no idea the condition it is in, Also when the devive is perscribed it has the pressure set to a specific setting which would only be applicible to the person it was perscirbed for. Also, you may have other resp problems that are not OSA, Your mask must be fitted correctly by a RT or Doctor, or the machine will not work properly. DO NOT buy used medical equipment.

  • CPAP is the only 100% cure...talk to your DR about getting a sleep test done

  • insurance! insurance! insurance!

What if you don't have insurance???

I guess we don't have any solutions...

  • ONLY people with insurance can afford to get "a chance to live" DID YOU READ WHAT I SAID???

  • DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER this surgury. It is so archaic. The surgeon cuts out the back of your throat. You need your uvula, it slows food and liquid as it travels down your throat, so you don't choke. PLEASE, go see your dentist and inquire about a TAP appliance. They are a much better alternative to surgury or CPAP.

  • dr pain the one you are seeing here is only 2 years experiments and acting like 20 years of experiments. theis surgery can make u chock with coffy and normal eating. it may help by 20% or make apnea wrost. cpap will not be an option after.

  • what can we do to make it better?
