Shark fins is actually have health benefits and it is said to strengthen the human immune system. They also very delicious to eat. Study shows shark fishing have beneficial for ocean life. We have no more fishes in the ocean for human consumption. And its much safer now to swim in the beach. No more shark attack on the beach.

The problem is that most of the people who are for animal rights don't support shark campaigns. Sharks are one of those subconcious monsters, and people have a hard time supporting keeping them alive. You'd probably have an easier time with a "Save the Tarantula" or "Save the King Cobra" than a "Save a Shark". Sharks have bad reps and a lot of strong animal activists aren't able to stretch their love far enough to cover an animal that most people think is just a monster. It really sucks.

But there are two sides to this: if the shark fin industry were stopped, a whole lot of people would lose their jobs and be unable to feed their family. Illegal and stupid as the jobs are, it IS their source of income.
On the other hand, if we continue to let this happen, well..

Glad i made a petition last year for shark week , i had over 800 signatures from my college. Many people were reluctant and said they hated sharks etc, but when i described to the how much its wasteful and hat acually happens you actually can turn heads and make people think. I don't think much of finning and releasing. Here in NC we have a market for the meat, yet were unable to catch them despite their numbers. To those claiming attacks are of curiosity and mistaken identity, ever think perhaps humans just look like an easy meal and identity is of no factor ?

Well one you say you don't think much of shark finning, that just gives me the sense that you don't know much about what happens to the sharks. Sharks are not finned and let go to live another day as in your comment suggests, all the sharks fins are caught off, they are usally beat with sticks, kicked, beat, torrtored, etc. and after their fins are caught off, the shark is thrown back into the ocean unable to swim

I'd jump in a shark pool, most sharks don't mean to hurt you and actually leave the area when they sense you there. The big sharks tho do attack people but is usally a case of mistaken identity or pure curosity. From around 3:07 upsets me a lot. That is quite a large blue shark and it is clearly verrrrrrrry much still alive, still desperately and pathetically fighting for life, despite all of its fins gone and a huge gash just behind its head... I knew this happened, but to see it in that sort of detail, it is very distressing. Such a beautiful animal meeting such a horrific end, it makes me very angry.

This is terrible.
Marine life, sharks especially, is essential for the worlds ecosystem to be balanced. If the scale is tipped then we all suffer.
The cruelty that these fisherman so callously abuse these sharks with is horrible, inhumane and abominable. This should be an international crime and Shark fin soup should be banned.

if your saying shark fin soup tastes very good, i've heard that too, but we aren't trying to get rid of the dish, it can keep its name and ingrediants except shark fin. Shark fin is tasteless, the soup will taste EXACTLY the same as it did without the fin. The fin is nothing but a symbol of wealth. An unneeded ingrediant.

The problem is that most of the people who are for animal rights don't support shark campaigns. Sharks are one of those subconcious monsters, and people have a hard time supporting keeping them alive. You'd probably have an easier time with a "Save the Tarantula" or "Save the King Cobra" than a "Save a Shark". Sharks have bad reps and a lot of strong animal activists aren't able to stretch their love far enough to cover an animal that most people think is just a monster. It really sucks.
