Every Alkaline Trio album has been my favourite at one point or another. I think I've settled with Goddamnit being their best, but Agony and Irony seriously has to be up there. Fucking amazing.

I prefer this album over the newest. I mean...those songs just seem forced to me. Like, they attempted to dip back into the earlier Trio, but for me, it did not work. I have no problem with this nor Crimson. Quite liked them actually.

well tbh i hate it when people say they dislike them, end of the day ak3 as just moved with the times they used to be rli dark now there sound as matured but they still got the qualitys that make ak3 this song is a good example the bass carries the song not many bands do who ever said it sounds like artic monkeys should die, yeah ak3 have got big but at least there not dicks abt it artic monkeys rli think they are something

I'm not going to say Alk3 sucks now, it's expected from a band. The more major the label, the more mainstream the sound of the band becomes. The two LPs for Asian Man had appeal to a small amount of people, and their subsequent releases on Vagrant started to change and get more 'poppy' to appeal to more people. Now on Epic, A&I is quite mainstream now. Can't argue, bands need money and fans. I'll say that I easily liked old Alk3 better, but even now, I can't say that they're not a great band.

Have you listen to their pre-Good Mourning, and if you have to pre-From Here to Infirmary, also? Their current music is more poppy and their song topics have changed a lot. They're 32 years old, I don't expect them to write about being drunk and depressed about love like they did when they were 18.

@xkevinc I defenatly agree with you and to add another point to that, "punk rock" as it was in 1998 like in Goddamit isnt the same at all as it today. For example on songs like 97 or cringe, guitar tracks arent like that anymore, its just a different style these days so when people say they need to go back to that it doesnt make sense

From here to infirmary is the best album they've made so far. Good mourning is the same style and crimson is more of a transition of the old sound to the new sound. I like crimson a lot its very refined but from here to infirmary is the best because of how fast paced and brutal it is while still matching perfectly the lyrics and music.

Jordan...Thousand of bands have changed to adapt to the general likes or dislikes of the public. it's called versatility. It's totally fine to disagree with change, but all bands to it to an extent. Without change there isn't growth, and bands who don't change die out.

The point is they completely changed their sound, whereas most bands just explore new areas, which is being versatile. Incubus do it all the time and they still sound brill, so did Pearl Jam with No Code, but alkaline trio cant because they simply sound shit now.
