It seems to me that the Chinese government is actually rather responsive.
It supresses strident protests but acts without fanfare to correct the problems, at least in ways it thinks possible or the best at the moment.
What could the Dalai Lama do in a moment like this? Prayers are usless; a God that wantonly killed tens of thousands in Haiti with the shaking of the earth he created is not going to help a thousand Tibetans.

In a religious sense and as a Christian here it's true we have to stay to our beliefs but praying for those who died in the quake and those who suffered is essential as well. We dont really know when Christ will come, All we can do is live our lives until that day comes. Quakes like this have been happening the past decade and every year. It could be in 5 years, 10 years, maybe even closer than we think, or maybe a generation away.

Not even Christ knew of when all shall be judged. We've been following the prophecies for 10 years now. Only God does so all we can do is be ready. What I'm saying is instead of panicking/preeching/parading/arguing with others, just stay to your belief and be ready anytime. To 2012 theorists, If not even Jesus knew when it will happen, I doubt the Mayans could predict it. Just live life to the fullest with a ready heart without regrets incase that day comes closer whan we think.

Scientific wise, Earthquakes like this happen every year. If you compare this year to the previous years, previous years' rate had way more, even as far as 8.0 magnitude Earthquakes. Our Planet's like a living being too and we're just going on track. Any insane event could happen to us as they also did to our ancestors and to the ones before us. This planet's never been exactly "safe" since the beggining of time. Cyclones, typhoons, earthquakes and ect have always been happening.

Science wise, if you look at the USGS website, prev. years from 2003-2009 had way more major media related arthquakes that have caused heavy disasters. 2010 is no different either....We cant predict the future (or predict exact prophecies, religious wise). All we have to do is live our life to the fullest, and be prepared for anything
