The Rite Magnum bobbin controls line tension for different types of material and is tapered so that it can be used as a half-hitch tool, while the Marc Petitjean Thread Through bobbin is easy to thread, controls line tension and has a built-in slot that turns it into a dubbing/spinning tool. Finally, the Ekich Ultimate Bobbin controls line tension most especially for rotary tying. I've never used them so I was wondering if you had experience with them or similar products.
I have tried the Rite and the Ekich but to be honest I never gave them a good work out, I just never had the time to sit down and mess around with them. I needed something like the tiemco which once you adjusted the arms they were set and ready to use..
I like the way you use both traditional and new methods and weave them together. How do you feel about the new bobbins that are available? Some have disc drives and are said to be able to regulate thread tension very well. I notice that you mostly use the Tiemco heavy ceramic bobbin.
The Tiemco heavy duty ceramic is a bobbin holder that I have used for more than 20 years and to use another style would only upset my old habbits, so I would be the wrong man to ask...What one are you thinking of buying if you don't mind me asking..
The easiest way to remove the herl is to soak them in some bleach for about ten minutes then wash them well before soaking them in some hair condicioner as this will help to stop them being brittle, just rinse them and allow them to dry naturally...ATB Davie
Second, what kind of scissors is it that you use. It seems to be able to cut really close to the material.
Third, what would you use for substitute djungle cock?
Great pattern by the way, I am also a big fan of bug bond. Makes our life as tyers much easier. Only negative I can think of is that UV-glue has a tendency to become a bit oily, but I guess that the fish dont care :)

Hi Davie,
First, where do you buy your colored peacock?
Second, what kind of scissors is it that you use. It seems to be able to cut really close to the material.
Third, what would you use for substitute djungle cock?
