well, hes trying to appeal to thugs and bring them back to thugs.
and i did the same thing u r doing i tried to take on the pro-choice online populus on a website and it turns out that the more you throw at them the more they turn away. the best thing to do is let God come to them naturally.
I don't think the silly stuff to that song is a good idea. Everybody Got 2 Suffer is pretty good, but I hope they don't sing that at Masses. He is real for the people who're on the streets, but is he keepin' it real as a Franciscan? Would it not be better if he just did his stuff as a street preacher¬ doing fancy shows? I'm not saying he's living a posh lifestyle on the road, though, but the limelight outside of street preaching may B not the Franciscan style. Cut a cheap album, maybe.
At the same time, using your talents for God is a good thing. I'm not saying he is Mr. Big back at his friary. I'm just saying the temptation could be there. Maybe people could use him there or they could open a friary in another state. I mean, these East Coast orders need a satellite friary further West in case terrorists ever hit it. I mean, I think the St. Nicholas church there was wasted by the towers falling.
If I joined them, I'd hackysack--maybe make it popular omn the streets. :)
They have friaries around the world, not just in New York. I know they have one in Comayagua, Honduras, and when I was there, there was talk of opening ones in England and Africa, but I don't know if that ever happened or not.
I love Fr. Stan, my youth group are his unofficial groupies almost, we went to Steubie South instead of Bayou (sp?0 this summer just cuz he was there. I saw him for the first time in El Paso 2 years ago, he realy rocks my socks..we have all o fhis cds autographed
as the saying goes if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything...he's out there in the real world incorporating prayer and song and pple like it so what harm is it!!none!he's great.
I knew Father Stan before he became a Priest when he was 17 years old in NY. I played music in my basement with him and saw him progress to become and excellent base player. The neighborhood he grew up in Yonkers was not an easy place to grow up in and he will tell you his history in a minute. I have no doubt that he is in the true service of God-No matter what church you come from. If they are doing something good for youth people should respect that
Much respect and gratitude for your commitment to the Church and your sacrifices. Fr. Stan is not about doctrinal dilution. A religious priest in an orthodox franciscan community he is committed to the timeless truths of our faith. Apostolate: service of the poor & evangelization. Evangelization can be reaching out to a youth group in a conservative parish but it can also be taking the gospel to everyone Christ died for, including rap-loving teenagers. Let us pray for each other.
Thanks for the abuse. Don't lecture me on getting real - I'm a Catholic priest whose former parish was in the Gaza strip and have seen things you will never encounter in your life. When you've been shot at for protesting against the Israeli army then you can lecture me about the real world.

You people are the very reason that the Church dies on its feet. This is Anglicanism at its best. When I was 10 everyone went to church. DO NOT FIT THE TIMES -LET THE TIMES FIT THE CHURCH. This is short-sighted idiocy at its finest.
last time i checked iamlondon the world is crumbling to rappers like eminem and 50cent.the literal CRAP that most kids in MY generation listen to is eating away at their mind. making them think that it's ok to go out and rape someone, do drugs, or go out and shot someone for a new gamesystem.maybe you'll wake up in the real world and realize that priests that have a music ministy like Fr. Stan's are trying to reach out to these kids, trying to wake them up from that cultural hypnotic crap
Yeah...that's all very well...apart from the fact that I belong to one of tme most conservative parish churches in the UK which also has an absolutely gigantic youth group. People want truth, not doctrinal dilution. If he can achieve both, then good luck to him. I very much doubt he is anything more than a die-hard liberal.
You should come down from your ivory tower and walk around the bronx with fr. stan before you judge him. I'm glad the church changes with the times. If you think your church hasn't changed, re-read your history books. And who are you calling Anglican? He's Catholic. Protestantism in and of itself is a "change" with the "times". Which "times" are you locked into? you lost the colonies, the war is over, get used to it.

You may well be right.
Let us pray for the Church and hope all manner of routes will be open to others for their grace.
