i always thought it was a veiled tribute to Brian Wilson. The Beach Boy genius who masterminded all their hits and stayed in bed... "the ghost at #1" plus listen to the bridge and coda?!?!
For whoever Thinks it's about Kurt cobain your wrong. Trust me I know. My parents were born before and into this era of music and the song was made 1992 which is before he died. So yeah
@cstefos Yes, it is. The lyrics make perfect sense if you fit them to Kurt's situation after he died. He was the ghost at number one on the charts because his popularity exploded after he shot himself.
@Zackr27 Nah, dude. It's not, I'm sorry. Even Roger Manning has said it has nothing to do with Kurt Cobain. Secondly, Kurt Cobain died April 1994, and Spilt Milk was released in February 1993, which means it was recorded in late 1992. How on earth would that make sense? Think about it. Just because you want it to be true doesn't mean it is. Sorry.
I wish artists dressed in there real clothes vs costumes. It makes us all look like dope worshippers. They are so talented. Gimmicks are crap . I'm sorry

It even sounds like an ELO song... or at least the Beach Boys... good though no doubt

it's obviously about a ghost writer who can't take credit for his song.

Ya, that's the thing about labeling art. You spend so much time chasing what's popular that you miss a lot of what's actually good.
