It's about a 2 mile run, downhill pretty much all the way once you're out of the park but quite a big hill coming back as you might hear from the engine working hard
I should also mention the first quarter mile getting out of the park is over a dirt / sandy track

ah thats what the guys I know have but they have tyres as you noted.... slightly more comfortable and smoother on road
If you can handle the bone shaking then worth the trip

Where was this pub? as i would be interested in doing the run myself this year but my engine is on strakes not rubbers so its not exactly fast.

although i am more or a railway man, i would like to one day own a 4" t.e. and join in these road runs, they seem like so much fun.
doesnt get much better- friends, beer and steam, what more could you want!

totally agree !
I've not got a 4inch scale engine either but hopefully my friends who do have space on a trailor :-)
I've just purchased a 5inch gauge Britannia which needs completing over the next year - I also have railways in the blood
Hopefully when done I'll have the best of both worlds, rallying and track running
