I just bought a 1988 Targa Turbo! All original, black on black, I still have not seen any others anywhere. It has 47k miles. The only thing I am doing is the stereo upgrade with a custom fiberglass mold for the subs that can be removed and replaced with the rear seats,SICK. One happy owner, I also have a97 twin turbo, also black on black,22k miles, a true collector. Also an 02 turbo that gets smoked by the 97! Not only in performance but looks too!! I like the pre 98 turbos. Performance andlooks
I bought an 88 Targa Balck on Vlack (not turbo though) 150 k on the clock, and I love it, the wierd thing is the only thing I am likly to upgrade is the stereo?
wow, seems the old blaupunkt stereos have had there day! My dad had a 964 3.6 carrera 4 targa, god i loved the sound of that engine growl.
They are a different experience to the turbo i will admit after being in a 930 3.3 from '87 being you seem to lose the extreme over/understeer from the beast and the car is much more 'tedious' at around 140mph in the turbo compared to the 964, one thing though is the Targa is an absolute sensation.
To get an 88 Targa Turbo is a dream!, many happy miles :)
I absolutely agree. Mine is stock ('88) and not the fastest car on the road anymore. The 930 was the best idea from a car company back in 1974. They had to produce 100 to meet the race rules, but they knew they had a winner on their hands. My '88 is pretty much unchanged from the original. Just a bigger engine. It's just an amazing car the more you get to know her.
That saggy rubber on the bumper cover bothers me, but it dates the car and gives it character.
