Yes ! Joanna was lovely and I always loved in her long ( over the knee ) split dresses or skirts; and like " Batgirl " - 1960's " Batman " TV show she relied on sensual ballet style kicks which emphasised her femininity. Regards.
Gareth hunt used to live around the corner from me. he lived next to the magistrates court on hatchlands road redhill, sadly he died there a couple of years ago. A great actor that i will always miss.
Lumley was a ballerina before training as an actress, hence all the high kicks etc. I should know, I had a bloody enormous poster of her on my wall when i was a teenager (I'm 43 now!)
Me never liked Purdey's hair. With the Lumley you want the body what she had in thee 70s but with the hair what she had in that Northern Lights Borealis thing, like. Even the face what she had in that Northern Lights thing, cus she don't grow old that one, tho she sez 'er body's a bit old now, like. That'd be crackin', that - to av the purdey with nicer hair. Then, like, she could kick me in face any day o't week, like.
Blackpoolhoaxer. Thought I'd liven up this comments page with a comic character. The voice is barely educated, yes, but clearly from the North of England.
Someone has to find the episode ""Angels of Death""...Purdy fight 2 females at the end of this episode....the best fight scenes by far...someone has to post this classic!!!

right, just as Joanna Lumley is a prelim actress by comparison to Dianna Rigg. apart from *The Eagle's Nest*, which showcased smth of the Brian Clemens of old, The New Avengers was an oafish mess of car chases and boring violence with nothing of the original series' flair, unique scope of cultural citations, both high and popular, wit, style, invention etc
right, and I meant to say exactly what I said. I should add that the fight scenes in the EP seasons of *The Avengers* were an intelligent, self aware caricature of what fight scenes should look like: Macnee never carried a gun and combated diabolical masterminds with his umbrella and bowler, same with Rigg's "ballet gone wrong" karate, all part and parcel of TA's elegant farce. TNA substitutted all that with the Starsky and Hutch brand of stupidity, taking themselves much more seriously
Thank you for your insights of the Avengers. When I saw these shows I didn't have access to the television guides or televison reviews since I was in grade school and living in Central America.
Lummmmmmleyyyyyy. Nice. Doh....

That's not right throwing someone out of the Royal Ballet because they're tall.

Emma Peel was a prelim performer by comparison to Purdey. She can be a place kicker for any NFL team.

I meant to say that Diana Rigg was a softie fighter compared to Joanne Lumley in the Avengers series. Both actresses played their roles very well.
