I had a problem with this machine: the correct amount of weight for the side lateral pre-exhaust was entirely too light for the pressing part of the movement, even it done instantly after. I always had to get up and change the weight before doing the pressing part, which pretty much defeated the whole purpose of pre exhaust.
Why is it that this assholes come out saying oh, that is not as strict as it could be and he is not benefiting as much as he could. Shit, these purest even go after people like Ronnie Colman and Kie Green. I've seen some of these purest even go telling Jay Cutler that his form could be better.
This little skinny ass purist need to go heavy and then when there done with that go heavier then tell us about strict form.
As many here note, this man looks, and is, strong; that's a lot of weight on the stack he's pushing, no matter how fast he moves it. But to HIT purists, his workout disregards several principles that Jones and Mentzer advocated. The lifts are quick rather than slow and controlled, with no momentum. Complete momentary muscular failure does not seem to be attained. There's an occasional small breach of good form. I suspect this guy could be even stronger with proper technique.
who the fuck cares how he is doing the exercise? the point of lifting weights is to get big and he sure as hell is big, so by telling him how to lift is the same thing as telling him how to get big. well fyi im sure hes bigger than most of us ever will be
@andrewishanukaai I disagree with your opinion on the purpose of training. I lift weights to strengthen my body, not to become bigger. I've lost about 15 pounds over the last year, while doubling the 10rep max weight in a lot of my exercises. And it IS important to stress posture and technique while doing heavy lifting, severe damage is often the alternative. That said, I do agree with your notion that he must be doing something right. Either that, or he's eating a lot of funny substances =P
He may not have planned to train to failure here i believe they call it a 'warm up' ready for the next sets. I train HIT and to be fair if you guys go all out from the start with no warm up, you are not doing yourself any favours.
i dont understand the momentum talk with hiit guys. if u control the weight w/o bouncing it explode there should be none. if there is then it means u werent going heavy enough. it should be heavy enough that when u explode up its still a slow controlled contraction not just fly straight to lockout. then stop and control the decent without bottom bouncing. i'm so lost on that stupid argument. if your having momentum your either going to light or bouncing. there is no other way to cause momentum.
I think Arthur would be disappointed to see the machine used in this way, neither set are to failure, body rocking is poor, is this guy spotting for you or just lifting it for you? Please tell me neither are HIT trainers!
you do know he loved arnold! and he NEVER trained to faliure he would do say 30 sets a workout sometimes twice a day.
And this guy on the machine obviously knows his body as he massive. so y would he listen to you! or Jones! mike mentzer said Jones theory was only 1 / 3 right! frank / arnold / columbo never did it like u say! so stfu. bodybuilding is simple building the body!
Jason, interesting comments; "knowing his body by being massive" - you are judging him by his achievements not his potential. Someone might be deemed successful if they do well, but if their potential was to do better then they are clearly not as successful. Theory is limited and not so complex that people cannot understand it; logic and science prevail even in the most ignorant of circumstances. I think you're information on Arthur Jones is somewhere far from accurate. Keep training though.
you have to remember, its a theory, liek superslow, of HIT (mikes accounted version) Tri-sets, training 2 bodyparts a week etc. All Theorys! so obviously like food or computer games, everyone had thier own favoured taste! i like high intensity, 1 to 2 sets per excercise, and i only train 2 times a week (im natural and dont recover quickly because i train to failure!) but i KNOW and YOU know some dont need HIT because they will grow with any workouts! (Steriods or genitics) so dont SAY ITS WRONG!
Good points and the cadence is WAAAY too fast--way too much momentum and terrible range of motion. needs to go slower with full range of motion not just mid range reps
@jpfisheruk I agree with you. The guy didn't come close to failure on the lateral nor the presses. I worked out with Mentzer 3 times in 1992 and went to failure on EVERY set, every time. I'm not nor have I ever been a strong guy, but he pushed me to lift weights I'd never dreamed I could ever lift before. My form was less than perfect sometimes but always controlled....and to absolute failure. Awesome.
I hope you've had good results in your training as well. best regards.
hey , my gym actually has all those older nautilus machines, and i just started using them a few weeks ago and i saw fast results using the biceps machine
A local gym used to have this machine where I trained years ago and I used it all the time. This was all I ever needed for delts and it was the absolute best shoulder machine ever invented.
The machine wore out, and the inventor Arthur Jones died. When his son took over the company he changed the design of everything and took Nautilus downhill. None of their equipment works as well anymore.
no you wish you had a gym with alot of free weights, dumbells, all the machines, a track, several ellipticals, treadmills, kettlebells, olympic weights, and many other stuff.
