The legalization of cannabis would be a benefit to farmers, companies, and the government. 1 acre of hemp is equivalent to 4 acres of trees in paper production, plus you don't have to wait 10-20 years to harvest your hemp. Clothing and textiles made from hemp last longer than cotton. Bio-diesel made from hemp produces more power and 0 emission. Gov't can tax it just like alcohol and tobacco. Win for everyone.

I like Ron Paul, except on the gold standard. Unfortunately, he doesn't understand why staying on the standard limits economic growth (basic economics), and I don't know why he doesn't know this! Otherwise he's pretty refreshing.
@flupachi The reason the gold standard became obsolete is because there isn't enough gold in the world to serve large economies. The thing about productivity growth is that it causes an economy to create wealth. A worker is able to make more goods per unit of work due to productivity growth, and thus will get paid more. Eventually as the entire economy's productivity increases, you run out of extra gold to pay workers. Thus a different currency must be used.
@flupachi Total value of gold on Earth is $9.2T, and US economy is $14T. So even if the US bought all the gold in the world, it still wouldn't be enough to serve our economy.

@flupachi Well it's probably not easy to convince everyone in the world to just cut their prices for every single good by 20x. But it's been done before in places like Brazil and Italy. However, as the economy keeps growing, you'd have to reprice your goods everytime you hit that $9.2T worldwide value of gold. Most people figured that's a waste of time, so it's better to just have a currency not dependent on a finite amount of material.
I'd like to thank you for being so civil and kind to the opposition. I like Ron Paul, but some of his supporters give me serious angst! Thanks for setting a good example.
@gaiusnumerus Ron Paul supporters were ignored by the media, when we would not go away we were then attacked by them in the campaign of 08 so try to look at us from the point of view of , what if you took your extra income and sent it to the betterment of yours and your kid future and were treated the way Ron and his supporters were, even beign called terrorist, If not the the relentless attitude of Ron's supporters we would never had gotten so far....

Think of it this way... say you have kids, and you give one kid a bicycle. Some of the other kids are older and never got anything like that. The next year, you give the same kid a stereo. Older kids get nothing.

I am not talking over 75%.. for that I'd estimate age 35 or 40.. why do you think the Constitution requires a President to be at least 35? No. You need to answer that question. Why? I know some of the MOST unprincipled "elderly" people, not few in number. I also believe that if you are to hold a public office without pay, you should be financially stable. Retirement, again, generally brings this. Limiting the minimum age of the president to 35 also forces a politician to serve in other offices first. Enough?

People under 25 just can't grasp foreign policy, they just haven't had enough time to gather the data necessary to understand all the inter-relationships between dozens of countries each with each other. If the world contained only 10 countries in total, that would be 9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1 or 45 relationships, each being complex in itself with respect to culture, weaponry, government, history, ambitions, etc. etc.
Time and experience and research help, but nobody under 25 has a clue!

His foreign policy is fine. He's upping the defense of the nation and closing the defense and bases we have in other countries. If on the other hand he was taking bases away from other countries but not upping our defense then we'd have a reason to be worried.

My God your stupid. Today, 170 people were killed by an Islamist group in Nigeria called Boko Haram. They have been fighting to institute Sharia law in the country. Were those people killed because of America's foreign policy? No! They are Islamists, they don't need a reason. @Everclearish I was in the Infantry and I'm telling you guys what we did in Iraq and Afghanistan was wrong. The USA funded the Mujaheddin which later became the Taliban/AQ. Al Qaeda means "the intelligence". The CIA funded them indirectly through the Pakistani ISI giving them money, procured during the Golden Crescent drug trade, and weapons. Osama Bin Laden or Tim Osman was the head CIA agent in charge of Al Qaeda or the CIA presence in Afghanistan. Gov't manufactured boogeyman.

The decriminalization of drugs give's people more freedom and keeps non-violent people out of jail and also keeps more $ in your pocket. It costs $80,000 per year, per criminal for taxpayers to house them. Add it up. Legalizing marijuana AND hemp production would be more than profitable for our country. The legalization of cannabis would be a benefit to farmers, companies, and the government. 1 acre of hemp is equivalent to 4 acres of trees in paper production, plus you don't have to wait 10-20 years to harvest your hemp. Clothing and textiles made from hemp last longer than cotton. Bio-diesel made from hemp produces more power and 0 emission. Gov't can tax it just like alcohol and tobacco. Win for everyone.

@flupachi The reason the gold standard became obsolete is because there isn't enough gold in the world to serve large economies. The thing about productivity growth is that it causes an economy to create wealth. A worker is able to make more goods per unit of work due to productivity growth, and thus will get paid more. Eventually as the entire economy's productivity increases, you run out of extra gold to pay workers. Thus a different currency must be used.

@flupachi Well it's probably not easy to convince everyone in the world to just cut their prices for every single good by 20x. But it's been done before in places like Brazil and Italy. However, as the economy keeps growing, you'd have to reprice your goods everytime you hit that $9.2T worldwide value of gold. Most people figured that's a waste of time, so it's better to just have a currency not dependent on a finite amount of material.
