That is the point they are making in regard to US spending and military deployment. The US does not replace European defence spending - it is additional. @ZKY2 You need an average IQ for most subjects, so at least half the population are capable of getting a degree. I genuinely believe that if you prepared individuals throughout their childhood to tackle a degree you'd see that number shoot up from my estimation of half to perhaps 80 or 90%. You have to bear in mind that some people are born into a life that inhibits any educational aspiration and/or aptitude. Additionally some people learn better outside of stale institutions. Lots to consider

There are millions of people with a degree, and of those millions I think it's safe to say some of them might not be the sharpest tool in the shed. Intelligence is something you're born with, not acquired in the space of 3 or 4 years at some institute. Knowledge on the other hand is a different matter, but then your intelligence dictates your ability to handle knowledge in a useful way

@ZKY2 You need an average IQ for most subjects, so at least half the population are capable of getting a degree. I genuinely believe that if you prepared individuals throughout their childhood to tackle a degree you'd see that number shoot up from my estimation of half to perhaps 80 or 90%. You have to bear in mind that some people are born into a life that inhibits any educational aspiration and/or aptitude. Additionally some people learn better outside of stale institutions. Lots to consider

Kids if you go to school get a real degree in something useful you can't learn well on your own. Engineering, Real sciences, Medical, or like lawyer or sumtin.

@fearthepib Political Science and Philosophy are two of the leading degrees for students entering law school. (also philosophy majors score highest on the LSAT- law school admissions test) They are useful degrees, and aside from just getting a job, those areas of study teach you to think and that is useful in any field.
