  • The master of melody. The emporer of emotion. Hail to the Chief!

  • the band is pearl jam

  • neil's the best, there's no other way!

the lyrics are godlike, love it.

  • You know a rock concert rocks when there's fire behing jack iron drumming's.

  • Keep on rockin', Neil. You're the best.

  • It is unbelivable how he can be so good over 40 years. No. 1 hit in US in 1971 and Grammy for the best rock song in 2011. ..and it is nice to be indecisive what of his songs is better :)

  • This song is fantastic, but not the best on Mirrorball. That honour goes to Scenery... Without question!

  • @RustDemon79 I disagree! Throw Your Hatred Down is the peak of this excellent album!

  • @RustDemon79 peace and love (only for the eddie vedder cameo) gets my vote! Scenery is a very close second, and objectively probably a better song.

  • What a great tune .One of Neil Youngs best songs in my mind ,.[there are so many]

  • FIRE!

  • I was there!

  • who ever dislike this knows nothing about rock

  • agree with "schnequs".... by FAR the best song on "Mirror Ball",,, just got the CD again.....

  • @sissybabypansy i saw them when they didi that Tour ! the crowd was amazed and send to the sky of rock'n ' roll legendary concerts ! was owesome

  • EDDIE v are backing on this track , but it seems like he is not there live...?

    But listen to 6,20--- :)

  • Neil, you're top dog!

  • This tune is special .Don,t why but it is ..My son James knows all the words by heart when we play Mirroball where ever the house or the car .Great tune .Probably the best Neil Young tune ever ,may be?

  • the drumers a monster on the drums!

  • @anysound521 that's Jack Irons - the original Red Hot Chili Pepper drummer, played with Pearl Jam, eleven. Dude's a beast.

  • What a great tune .Probably the best tune Neil Young has done live that gets to the point .The first 4 trunes on Mirrorball are fucking amazing

  • YEAH! YEAH!

  • What a drummer!!

  • @chillyguitarplayer WHAT???????????? get a clue. This drummer blows. Pop pop pop diddy pop diddy pop, doop doop, dada dee dada dee.....LAME.

  • I must say, this experiment with Pearl Jam as his "backing band" was a success in every way. And I love the Crazy Horse stuff. Great record.

  • PEARL JAM.

  • Classic on every level. Always takes you on a ride. Even gets away with a lyric flub at 2:59. Instead of "..those are lovers.." he sings "..those are zeros., on a field that's green." & flips back & forth trying to find his place. Good save & a giggle with

    the guitarist at 3:25. Amazing!

  • Shakey, you're The Man!!

  • the great jackie irons one of the greatest

  • This is one of my favorite NY songs....and he's got a few. ;)

  • A poet. Probably the best lyrics i have ever heard.

  • Great tune one of my favourit Neil Young tunes .My 8 year old son loves Mirrorball especially this and song x .Love it

    regards

    jimmy

  • You can grab the audio-mp3 of this track at grabtubesnow doht cohm.

  • There's A reason this song has no dislikes.

  • Top 5 album of all time

  • 9 mins. 13 sec. of pure power!! Need random violence, need entertainment tonight?? (4.14)

  • great tune

  • Thanks for uploading. If only I could back in time to see this live! Mirror Ball is one of my favourite albums of all time- its just perfect.

  • @Trowerblues I agree. Mirror Ball songs progress from good to better to best as the album moves toward Peace and Love but I'm the Ocean seems to be the best of the lot.

  • fortunately, i know mirrorball, but i never hear eddie singing

  • yeah you´ve got all concer?

  • What a great tune .Mirrorball is a really good album .Neil playing with a band thats half his age at the time .The first 4 songs in my opinion are his best opening tunes of any of his albums and i love them all

    regards

    jimmy

  • Em G C D over and over, it works cause Neil is fucking awesome.

Love Jack irons too, no messing , does the job. Pearl jam were best with him.

  • Buena Canción ..Awsome.. papa

  • Jack Irons !!!!!!!!

  • it´s Jack Irons !!!!!!!!

  • Interesting how the initial riff sounds so similar to "Gut Feeling", given NY's work with DEVO. Yeah, it's three chord rock, but y'know...

  • @gisjoedotcom interesting, will check that out...but Neil has always favored this Em/Em7, G, C, D type of chord progression

  • "I'm an Aerostar

    I"m a Cutlass Supreme

    In the wrong lane..."

    I fucking love that part!!!

  • awesome

  • Brilliant!...thank you for sharing.

  • Legends, all of 'em!!! This song is fucking awesome

  • Rock on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • When I hear this fantastic song again I just have to think: "EVERYBODY has to be the ocean..!" :). Love it, I really do...

  • NEIL & PJ!!! Doesn't get much better than this folks!!!!

    LONG LIVE ROCK!!!

  • thanks for posting this masterpiece of a song i really love this song peace and respect .

  • I'm not present, I'm a drug that makes you dream,

In the wrong lane trying to turn against the flow,

    I'm the Ocean.

  • that was an owesome Your and album : pearl Jam + Neil Young ! i was that in

belgium at that time !!! it was amazingggg .

  • IMMMMMM' THE OCEAAANNNNNNN

  • Great vid! I was lucky enough to see them on this tour in 95 at the Reading Festival. It was a stunning night

  • I have been there in Salzburg, Austria and he, Pearl Jam an the atmosphere there on the Residenzplatz was great.

  • Jack Irons is the shit.

  • Yes U Are, Hi5, Peace, Love and Respect

  • Epic song from the 90's

  • de huevos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The drummer is really gettin down. Yet another great Neil Young tune.

  • Was Eddie Vedder there?

  • Eddie didn't participate in the tour as he wasn't all that present for the making of the record. Aside from the Merkin Ball songs and Peace and Love I don't think he appears on anything else. He may have also been on tour with Mike Watt for the Ballhog of Tugboat? tour.

  • O . M . G . lol just shit my pants from the awesomeness.

  • Hurray!!! I've also wanted to see this since I heard they'd done the Euro tour. Neil's best song since Rockin' in the Free World.

Man is he all over the map on the lyrics this time. Must be the pony tail.

    Jack Irons is awesome!

  • Thank You for this song mister.

  • is that jack irons on drums !!! legend

  • Forever Young

  • It's so great! Thanks ...

  • Plz keep this up :-) Neil Young is a legend.

  • Essa música tem um troço!! Ideal pra quem chega na 6ª feira sem vontade de fazer nada!! Vamo ver se o fim de semana rende alguma coisa!! hehehe

  • Epic!

  • The best Song from "Mirrorball" i mean and he was incredible.

  • OOps!! @ 3:29 drummer lost his stick,

    hope Neil doesn't notice...LMAO

  • EPIC!

  • One of the best rock'n'roll songs ever made performed by probably the best live band ever!! This song has such a driving force - words can not describe... - Thank you so much for posting this - I saw them in Gampel (CH) during the '95 tour. Anybody around with videos of that concert?

  • OMG, looking so long for this.

It was my first Neil Young concert.

    Thanks for uploading!

  • fucking great video! such a great song!!

  • holy smokes, been waiting forever to post a video of neil playin this one live himself. Arguably my favourite campfire song of all time, great tune for acoustic.

  • excellent, love the lyrics . moving song

  • he is the giant undertow without doubt

    regards

    jimmy

  • Thank you sooooo much for posting this, man! I've been looking for a live version of this song for ages! Absolutely wonderful and in case he won't play it anymore when I'm present I can surely die in peace now... :-)

  • BlackRustTv, you don´t know how much this song means to me! I was in Venezuela in Jan, 1996, all alone and miserably lovesick. I would be standing in the Caribbean Sea, kneedeep, listening and singing along to this song for hours and hours. The people around me, Venezuelans - families with children - would be staring at me, thinking "Who is this weird GRINGO?" and I couldn´t care less..

  • Thats clearly mike, jeff, and stone, but who's on drums?

  • the drummer is jack irons

  • *chugging.....lmao

  • whats that dude chuggung at 0:35) lol

  • thank u, thank u , thank u.....for posting

  • Great song. Mirrorball as a whole absolutely pwnd.

  • Every video from this concert doesn't dissapoint. would have been a great show to go to.

  • thanks for sharing! Some months ago I was unable to find I'm the Ocean videos in Youtube! great stuff...love NY

  • @LIVERUST he did that in a hotel room, not on stage, Palmer had just told him some lie or other, caused by his chronic substance abuse problems...

  • This song rox my sox off!

  • I'm the giant undertow!

  • Thanks for posting this, great show from back in the day.

  • BTW... that's Pearl Jam as Neil's band... might be worth mentioning in the title of the video. Just a thought.

  • judging from your username... it looks like you are already well aware of that fact

  • Pearl Jam is in the Tags, and the title of the playlist where this whole show is put together.

  • Thanks, man.

  • Hurray! Finally! I've been wanting to see a live version of this song since it came out. Didn't get to see Neil save the day at Golden Gate Park--still kicking myself.

Jack Irons was absolutely brilliant driving this train! Maybe someday they'll take another shot at it.

  • words cannot describe how grateful I am for this video :D.

  • Thanks for posting all these great videos from Salzburg!
