Neither Haitink nor Rubenstein are people who understand passion- they are a suited pair of charlatans, imposters and dilettantes. Perfumed and stupid class based garbage.
Yes. Brahms composed a great many popular pieces, and is considered one of the "big 3 Bs" - Bach, Beethoven, Brahms. His German Requiem is one of his best and most awesome pieces - scored for a very large choir, soloists and a very full orchestra, and a couple of hours long. I was involved in a performance of it once, and just learning it was completely amazing!!! Brahms himself was an excellent pianist, but he wrote plenty of vocal stuff and lots for orchestra also. A true musical genius.
You should check out a site I found. Great quality in both video and ofcourse audio:

They also do live internet broadcast of concerts. This christmas, on the 25th, they will show a concert by the no.1 orchestra in the world (the royal concertgebouw orchestra). BERNARD HAITINK used to be chief conductor there, and hes successor, MARISS JANSONS, is also one of the best.

Rubinstein is 87 years old in this recording. The man had fierce will power to keep going on and on like that...

Man, those last 20 seconds or so are really annoyingly hard to play. Even Rubinstein can't do that very well!

@hitthelightz Yes. And two piano concertos, a violin concerto, four symphonies, and countless other works.

@cipotlar
It's a 40+ years old recording. Yes, it is out of sync. But neither Rubenstein nor Haitink would care.
