  • This is a awesome product. Works great with Mac 10.6.8 Logic pro 9.1.4

Got a Presonus Fader port and arm wrestled with it for 2 weeks and sent it back and purchased is Alpha Track. For anyone who hates mixing with a mouse and don't want to spend 5 or 6 hundred on a daw, this is the one for you.

  • Anyone had any luck using this in logic?

  • @sorstudios I've tried it with Logic and it works just as well. The thing is, the layout changes with every piece of software. I found that some things were missing that were present with Cubase and some things were labeled differently, sometimes better, sometimes worse.

It's definitely a more organic feeling mixing with this rather than the mouse. It's not really faster though, but I've always had better mixing results than mouse mixing.

  • Finally someone made a decent video on the 3 knobs. Thanks man

  • Wow... awesome awesome video man. You really showcased it's abilities very well. I won't lie, I wasn't even interested in purchasing this until this video. My drawback was the fact that it's a single fader instead of 8 faders... but man, it seems very functional.

My only question: can you slice audio clips with this? With a mouse, u can take the scissor tool and cut audio, delete breaths, stuff like that.... r u able 2 do this w/ this controller? or u still need a mouse? im tired of the mouse

  • @ChrisPhoenixBMR Hi! Cheers, no problems :)

You could slice if you shortcut the 'slice' function to one of the shortcut keys I think, then you can navigate around with the strip controller and slice! I think... but mouse is still faster!

  • Wow this controller looks pretty awesome, looks like you can really mix with it mouse free, although a few questions come to mind (You should get paid by Alphatrack BTW for your vid and answers, youre doing a better job showcasing this thing than they are!)

So I was wondering, can you skip back and forward to markers in your track, and if you can use the scrub/shuttle 'ribbon controler' thingy for controling other things, like you would a fader or rotary knob?

  • Thanks a lot for your video man :) ...and by the way what`s the track you`re working on please ? :) when the guitar comes in it`s very very beautiful !!!

  • @aarvin1 no probs! :D it's a track called 'on the edge' by my band. you can hear the full track here at my band's website, just google 'the vulpine' there is a media player on the front page!

  • how u hook up that too cubase 5 how havin problems i have a apple can u show me?

  • @lynnCJones I haven't tried it with Cubase running in osX, i run it in Windows 7... sorry!

  • That was so freakin cool.

  • without a doubt the best vid on youtube for the alpha track, cheers

when you showed it controling the floorfish and urs plug ins did you need to set it up ur self to do that or did it automatically map its self ?

  • @thehornyscotsman cheers!

It automatically accesses all the midi controllable options for any plug in that has it available (which is pretty much all of them). So all you have to do is call it up on the Alphatrack and it's all ready to go! Pretty handy, excellent for controlling compressor and eq plugins!

  • it looks very handy indeed, how do the encoders feel, watching the vid it looks like they're not very responsive, maybe more like a mouse wheel rather than a knob, (im not puting down the most functional and best value 4 money controller of its class)

im just not sure if im trying to talk myself into or out of buying one, when u consider what can be achieved with key commands

midi controllers seem to sell you alot of what you already got for free,

but i do like cool gadgets :)

  • To tell the truth, the rotary encoders are very clicky and not very precise... i would have liked them a lot smoother. The fader is great though, very smooth.

I find the best thing about it is not just the speed of editing, but rather the naturalness of mixing, and the fact that you can close your eyes and mix with your ears and the fader rather than looking on the screen. For me, that's a lot faster, feels more real. I turn off the mixer panel in Cubase now!

  • well the fader was my next question, and has just bn answered, i dont mind so much using a mouse, 4 me the slowest part of using a daw is going through menus, like u i dont use the main mixer, i just leave the channel edit window open, that way you always got all your settings at hand and it switches when you change track, think its easier to use and less clutter on the screen

  • it looks like a telephone, nice hardware

  • Thanks for this video
