I can understand your condemnation of flag burning, but it has to be okay. At the end of the day, our allegiance shouldn't be to the flag or to the government. If the states stopped enforcing slave return laws, and many tried, the cost of replacing and tracking down lost slaves would be higher than simply paying workers. Something else that astounds me is the soldiers reactions to criticism, they always use the line "we're fighting for your freedom" but that is so far from the truth at this point it's not even funny. And who killed those most of those 1 million people? The Islamists (Al-Qaeda, et al). If you think that the US and Allies stopped fighting tomorrow that the killing would stop you are greatly deluded (it would increase). Look at the Islamists killing their fellow Muslims in Pakistan or the Islamists killing people in southern Thailand (Bhuddists and Muslims). What did Thailand do? They did not allow an Islamist state ruled by sharia law.

Ultimately we are responsible for what our nation does. Who else could be? I think responsible people want to correct their mistakes and accept the consequences.
And i don't have much respect for the folks that are upset about Obama's spending when they're the same ones who voted in so many years of irresponsible leadership because they' were upset about gay marriage. Gay marriage was the major issue in 2004. If it wasn't for the Christian fears (that I sense you share) a shit-head like Bush wouldn't have won even the first term. He added four trillion to the debt and Rush didn't have a coronary. Obama doesn't have a choice but to try and stop a massive de-leveraging by spending right away and the republicans know it and are just playing politics--milking the ignorant and stressed public by spinning the spending as all manner or pork and socialism.
