The lady is absolutely right! The military's function is to protect democracy, not to practice it. I don't remember being asked for my opinion about the Iraq War or anything else for that matter when I was on active duty, and that's fine, because a Soldier's job is to obey orders, salute, and accomplish the mission. If the military's opinion had been taken into account regarding desegregation of the force and gender issues, we wouldn't have minorities or women serving today. DADT's got to go!!
