I know!! It's actually kind of crazy how we can put together such a great sounding-show with so few people! But with a great idea from Mr. Macklin and a lot of practice, we end up doing really well by the end of the season! Sometimes I wish I could just hear what it's like to play in a huge band, but Roosevelt's where it's at! =P
I would, but I didn't get that DVD. I figured the one from St. Louis would be pretty good quality. But I guess I could get my hands on a copy and post it. =P
Well, St. Louis was pretty successful. We placed 16th, only 0.7 points out of finals! But it was our best performance of the season and we were all very happy about it. I might be posting our St. Louis performance once I get it in the mail.
Well right now we're preparing for St. Louis this weekend....and a few of our members are coming down with H1N1. Including our backfield drum major and lead trumpet. So wish us luck....lol.
We recorded a DVD a couple weekends ago, and I'll probably post that on here once we get it (if it's OK with our director, that is). I'd say....three weeks? Somewhere around there.
I agree. Our clinician (spelling?) told us "There ain't nobody — ain't nobody — better than Beethoven." That's definitely going down on the quotes list!
Oh yeah. I love Danny Elfman's "Serenada Schizophrana" and Beethoven is one of my favorite classical composers. Also, the music fits Beethoven's life progressively and it matches perfectly. In my opinion, it's the best music that RHS has ever done.
I can't wait to see this show. I just have a feeling that this will be the best show that Roosevelt's ever done. It's too bad that LHS and RHS compete only once head to head and it'll be in Marshall. I wish you all good luck and a great season.
Thanks. I wish we could've gotten sweepstakes, but that performance was one for all of us in the LHS Band to remember. I actually think that you all got the band end of the deal Saturday night. How in the world did Bellevue West do that much better in music? I was able to hear you all while we were marching over to the gate and you all sounded awesome.
Thing is, Silk Journeys missed finals in St. Louis by 1 point last year. And if I'm right in saying that the music is better this year, I think we have a pretty good chance.
I hope you found a BEAST of a pianist. Sounds like it's going to be a show to remember. I'm going to have to catch a show! Good luck this season! Awesome, awesome, awesome.
Actually, I'm the pianist they're going to use, and I'm up for the challenge! Lol, the closer music is post-college piano material, and I get to play it in high school. But I have it learned for the most part. It will really be a spectacular show and I'm looking forward to it.
I'm thinking that any competition you all go to with a best soloist caption, you'll definitely win it. It's a killer piano part. Favorite piano part for me in this show has to be from 1:50 to 2:03. Can't wait to see you at Marshall! Best of luck to you!
I don't know if you'd consider it a solo, though. I think it's more a feature over the course of the show, so I don't know if I'd be eligible for the solo prize. That would be cool, though.
rosemount has 27 trumpets ! lol just saying [;

And there's no way that this show will not make finals in St. Louis. I'm actually thinking this show could have top 5 potential.
