  • Congressman Pence's final comment was, "It may be progress that our plan is being attacked."

As usual, the most revealing comments from Republicans are the unintentionally revealing ones.

  • See, the dems want the numbers first, so then they can create lies about them. We're not falling for the old games dummycraps. How 'bout you give your numbers first? Never give the lying bastard demonrats a millimeter!

  • man we should all agree to split up the country and become two countries. Liberals in one the rest in the other. Let people live what ever side they decide. That would solve the whole problem. After 20 years we'll all know who can live longest and prosper most (No disrespect to Mr. Spock.) without the other. Then one can say to the other see we told you that you don't know what you're talking about.

  • Realists, on the other hand, start with the numerical and demographic description of the uninsured that census data allow. Based on these and other data, they make policies to try to improve the lot of the country's citizens. Unfortunately realists have to compromise with ideologues to get anything done, and this leads to the bastardized 'reform' package we have today. But there is a REAL problem that needs to be solved and the House reform proposal is better than nothing.

  • dogcrapgreen, you correctly describe ideologues. Ideologues start first with their dearly held concepts (regardless of how these relate to reality) and then make up numbers and "facts" consistent with their preconceptions. E.g. the right-wing believes that poverty and poor health are entirely within the control of the impoverished and the sick; therefore, they insinuate that the uninsured are the lazy and illegal immigrants. This is "fact" following preconception.

  • The truth is number are used to hide the facts.

1st the concept should be sound and let the numbers follow.

Obama has no sound concepts thats why he talks and twist the numbers.

  • I thought fox was one sided

  • Great plan, keep up the good work... lol

  • It was awful...I mean republicans were just eager to prove their ignorance...

and man this was just physically painful to even watch...its like your never studying classmate getting cornered by a teacher during an oral exam in front of the class...

  • Your plan is being attacked because it isn't a plan!!!! It was just another attack on Obama. "Thanks for reading it." lol

  • Fuzzy math to these guys I bet, they dont' even know math

  • you just have to love them, at least they make us laugh

  • I am a Repulican, and I have to say, I am mad off by what the GOP has come up with. We have no ideas, and we are just out of touch. I mean, I saw the numbers of our budget, and it was a freakin joke. It gave the rich a $100,000 tax break, and RAISING taxes on the POOR! Not to mention, put us in a 1.7 Trillion in the hole. WTF! It's the same policies from 8 years ago. I may not agree with Obama's policies, but at least he has better ideas than what my party has to offer. Our leaders are retards!

  • How are there still people that are republicans? This is your leadership, bush is your legacy. Good work.

  • Oh God

  • "iT MAY BE PROGRESS THAT OUR PLAN IS BEING ATTACKED?" Now that was a stupid attempt at a deflection! The are all idiots! When is Jindal gunna screwup again?! Steele screws up daily and LameBone "the comedian" is not relevant! This is SO MUCH FUN!

  • Hey DonewCa.... if u use the repubs plan u not gonna have a 401k at all.... so u should be kissin Obamas butt... every day . If u and the repubs got something better lets hear it...(crickets chirping) thought so...

  • If the buck stops with Obama (the spend thrift man) does this mean he will PERSONALLY pay back the deficit - out of his own personal retirement savings - when his change does not work ?

  • I guess by that logic Bush should have to die over and over again to make up for every dead soldier and marine killed in Iraq.

  • EPIC fail. someone needs to put the Republican party on life support, stat.

  • The GOP all of a sudden want to be fiscally responsible whenever the Dems are in charge, but when they are in charge they spend like drunken sailors! Hypocrites!

  • If the buck stops with Obama (the spend thrift man) does this mean he will PERSONALLY pay back the deficit - out of his own personal retirement savings - when his change does not work ?

  • what do you think?

  • To be fair to the GOP, they said that they are going to release more details on Wednesday. Hopefully, there will be some fucking numbers in there. But we all know what their plan will be (numbers or not) it will be Bush III, the same BS we just got out of, but no investments to grow the economy or fix healthcare or become energy efficient, etc.

The the truth of the matter is, it really doesn't matter because the Republicans budget will probably end up in the deficit anyway...

  • What. A. Douche.

  • Gold, Silver, or Diamonds could all go to crap except that the people in charge of those industries create a false scarcity.

Money is nothing but an idea now, backed by the government, get used to it.

  • That's why its got to be physical if you want to protect your wealth. Paper is a promise of value, gold and silver is value.Like I said no problem with fiat $ until the government prints the value of it into oblivion. There's only maybe 5% of the US population that have this perception.95% think paper is valuable. Its going to be horrible for millions of Americans loosing their wealth overnight. They'll be like deer looking at the headlights as they realize that the US dollar is a ponzi scheme

  • These people are a disgrace to our country . They have the unmitigated gall to propose a budget without numbersWhat exactly do they think a budget is? Further they have the nerve to try and defend this crap to the American people. Is it any wonder they lost so many contest on November 4, 2008. Then we have Michael Steele now saying everything hes said over the past month was all Strategic Jesus Christ. I was looking stupid on purpose just to see how you guys would react. .

  • Bush gave massive billion dollar tax cuts for the top 5% - it was supposed to trickle down, but didn't & we had huge deficits.

The "new" GOP proposal calls for billions more in tax cuts for the top 5% & if they say it'll reduce the deficits THEY'RE FULL OF B**LS**T!

  • HAHAHAHA

  • The only reasons these idiots get a soapbox to stand on is that they both so effectively keep any third parties from ever gaining a toehold.

  • Just wait. The GOP is THIS close to going the way of the Whigs and Federalists.

  • he hasn't even cracked it open for a read yet him self.

  • Talking Heads- Who cares

We have socialism and we are heading towards a dictatorship deal with it. It's called the NWO.

  • You got to realize that only 10% of the world's population thinks the way you do.

Starving masses of people can become weapons of much misery. Not a great future for the children being born today.

Sure wish the American people would wake up , I can only pray they do.

  • All FIAT money ends the symptoms of :

    - endless war, endless welfare, endless spending, endless corruption points to the worthlessness of paper money.

Gold and Silver for a reason, its the law of the land. Its so an individual can be free and prosperous. What has the government done for the citizens of America lately. You pay to live on the streets, its outrageous, it all has to do with sound money.

  • You said: "Gold and Silver for a reason, its the law of the land. Its so an individual can be free and prosperous."

Boots, can you explain to me how flat money keep up with inflation when the number of people OUTNUMBER the amount of gold and silver used as standard for currency?

You can't print more gold or silver you know.

  • "You can't print more gold or silver you know".

You can't counterfeit gold and silver, paper bills you can.

I know there isn't enough gold and silver to go around the world, sure is enough for the good American people. Worked great for over a hundred years.

The only reason you want a gold and silver standard, is when you see the government counterfeiting money you turn in your paper for gold and silver. Fiat money works as long as you don't counterfeit the value of the paper into oblivion.

  • You said: "You can't counterfeit gold and silver, paper bills you can."

Uh Boots, gold and silvers are heavy so people use PAPER MONEY as certificate that they do have so and so amount of gold or silver to be more practical.

That certificate can be counterfeited just like paper money because THEY ARE PAPER MONEY.

They'll be like deer looking at the headlights as they realize that the US dollar is a ponzi scheme.

  • You said: "That's why its got to be physical if you want to protect your wealth."

So what happen when the people of America OUTNUMBER the amount of gold and silver in the treasury?

  • Those are the folks (about 5%) of the population that has protected their wealth. (Bank of Free and Prosperous individual).

The rest of the victims in the ponzi scheme will have to depend on the paper.

Basically you save in gold and silver, sell your gold and silver when you need currency. If you save in "paper" your life's savings might go to 0. If you save in gold and silver the physical will always be worth something. Price of gold has never lost purchasing power in 6000 years.

  • Regarding the gold fallacy .. or must I say the Gold Bubble .. The best hedge against inflation in these circumstances are Series I (pronounced 'eye') U. S. Savings bonds. They are indexed to inflation so you are not risking the value of your principal to the whims of monetary policy. The bad news (irony), though, is that there is a limit of $30,000/year purchase per individual, so the middle class benefits disproportionately.

  • Indexed to inflation ? Interesting what would happen if the government didn't feel like fulfilling the contract ?

Just wondering because when they confiscated the people's gold in 1933, they gave them pieces of paper to claim the gold back once the economy back on its feet. They defaulted in 1939, and the courts backed up the government. Anything that is made out of paper is just a promise to pay. When's the last time you saw a politician not break a promise. Gold doesn't lie, its real.

  • I forgot to mention those folks will have to get chipped up like cattle so they can eat. When you're starving you'll summit to any bull crap the gov. dishes out.

  • This is the Republican Party?

Man... I don't know whether to laugh or cry...

  • GOP is lamer by the day.

  • There's really nothing you can do but laugh.

  • GOP straight answer: well we thought if we drew a big house, with a big car and a smiling married couple that everyone would understand it. Jindal made the house, i made the SUV and colored it with big flames on the side and Michael steele drew himself holding hands with Rush lim.

  • What the hell do the GOP's think a budget is? IT'S ALL ABOUT NUMBERS....IDIOTS!

  • LOL thats the hilarity of the entire situation that would be like to building a budget for your life with no numbers.

    Food- some money

Car payment - some more money

    rent - some money

    Utilities - extra money

    Total income - arbitrary number

SWEET My budget is perfectly balanced! I guess I can buy that porsche now since numbers dont matter

  • I like how the more this guy talks, the stock market is going up... lol. As if the crap that was coming out of his mouth had a direct effect on the market...

    Funny.

  • I agree. Numbers are useless. Leave em to Asians

  • The GOP is b ecoming an absolute joke! Are you kidding me with this crap??!! They have spent so much of the last 10 years bashing Gays and right to lifers that they don't know where their party values are. Other than "taxes bad, government bad" what the hell do they even say? And if they beleive that why do they want to be in GOVERNMENT on the TAX payers dime?

  • What the hell did this guy say? It seems to be soooo easy to slip up they Repubs.Fire most of them.

  • His budget is ... Tax cuts for the rich. Rest of budget to come later.

  • Through the morning we did even have a plan .. now its a progress that our plan is being attacked ... rolf.

  • Numbers??? We don't need no stinkin' numbers.

  • A perfect example is the energy problem. Jimmy Carter proposed alternative energy 30 years ago, and he was laughed at. Think of where we would be now if someone had listened to him that long ago. We just cannot afford to sit idly by while the rest of the world passes us up. It's not un-American, anti-American, socialist, or communist. It is the truth..it's going to be a long hard road to go down but we have to do it. It's not 1955 anymore, reality is a bit different now. Someone has to step up.

  • You guys are forgetting something here. The problems that face this country need some investment otherwise we are going to continue down the same road that we always have. Roads are crumbling, bridges are faltering, our education system is far behind many of the other nations', it is going to take some money to fix them. Private enterprise cannot pay for new roads, new hospitals, better education, it has to be done by the government. The reality is that we cannot afford to look the other way.

  • I don't know why this simple concept elludes so many people, but yeah there you have it. Pres. Obama said the same thing. We can spend now to invest in our future or still have a massive deficit and then have nothing to show for it at the end as other countries completely outpace us in every way. It's so simple but so many people are literally blinded by their partisan talking points. It's a true shame.

  • Apparently not him.

  • FAIL

  • Give the GOP a break, already! How can they work on an economic recovery plan when they're still working on a plan for what to do if the Iraq invasion doesn't go as well as they expect. First things first.

  • PWNED! !! ! !!

  • It's hard to ask an intelligent question when there is nothing in there to ask about. Simple tax cuts just don't work...

  • You said: "You're right, we need to cut spending, DRASTICALLY, too!"

Uh Ted, without government spending who would buy goods or service from American businesses?

    "What a maroon."

Hey you're the one with the idea.

Oh well, if you're honest enough to admit Clinton a better (Or at least more conservative) president than Bush then i'm optimistic you would (Hopefully heh heh) admit that Obama is better president than even Clinton or Bush.

  • Well, I don't get government money - just like most Americans - and if the govt takes less and spends less, I'll have more to buy goods and services... JUST LIKE MOST AMERICANS.

    You, sir, are a maroon.

Clinton was better than Bush, economically, because he was more CONSERVATIVE than Bush, economically. D'ohBama, on the other hand, is a socialist fool and a failure.

  • You said: "Clinton was better than Bush, economically, because he was more CONSERVATIVE than Bush, economically. D'ohBama, on the other hand, is a socialist."

Uh Ted, you do know that Obama proposed tax rates is SIMILAR TO CLINTON'S ERA TAX RATES don't you?

So if you think Clinton is more conservative than Bush then to be fair you have to admit Obama is just as good based on his proposed tax rate alone.

Oh well, i hope you eventually admit it like you admit Clinton better than Bush.

  • You're joking, right?

Even so, I wish he had Clinton's restraint from out-of-control spending.

WAIT, that was because republicans took back Congress!!!

  • You said: "Even so, I wish he had Clinton's restraint from out-of-control spending."

Gee I didn't know Obama incurred billion of dollars expenditures for a war on a nation that has nothing to do with 9/11 or something like that /Sarcasm.

Oh well i still have hope you eventually admit Obama is good like you admit Clinton better than Bush.

  • Then it's not a budget, period.

And therein lies the focus of the argument at hand.

  • Might want to inform them of that, then.

  • You said: "Its not their job to provide a budget."

    Huh? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

If that's not their job then WHAT ARE THEY DOING IN THE CONGRESS?!

Even if they're in the minority they still has to provide ALTERNATIVE not just oppose for the sake of opposing.

  • Wow, do you not know how your govt works?

The president proposes a budget and congress alters it to fit reality.

It's more than 200 years of history, bub. You must've been a public school student.

  • You said: "The president proposes a budget and congress alters it to fit reality."

Yes, WITH ALTERNATIVE BUDGET PLAN which through compromise eventually become a part of the official plan.

    So, WHERE'S THE ALTERNATIVE?

Oh BTW i went to private school.

  • Must have been a bad school.

Please tell me, when did this tradition of the opposition party composes its own budget plan. When was the first time the opposition party in Congress did that?

  • You said: "Please tell me, when did this tradition of the opposition party composes its own budget plan."

When the opposition party is part of UNITED STATES COMMITTEE ON THE BUDGET which responsible for BUDGET RESOLUTIONS DRAFT.

My private school not so bad after all.

  • HAHAHAHA.

"This morning we did not have a plan..."

  • pathetic

  • WOW those guys (gop) are dumb!!!

  • GOP = Got 0 (zero) Plan

  • American politics is nothing short of a clown circus.

  • you know what i would have to agree. For a second though i thought i might have saw a hint of compitence but now its starting to look like the president might have some other interests in mind. Tim giethners plan doesn't help the tax payers at all. Its just another way to trasfer tax payer funds to wall street. Its all really sad and laughable.

  • What a bunch of dickweeds.

  • if they think their plan being attacked is progress. their bigger idiots then i thought.

  • They are digging the hole they're in deeper and deeper ~ Oh please I hope it turns out to be an abyss!

  • I just read through it. It basically says "we will cut taxes so people pay next to nothing, yet magically the gov't will have enough money to pay off its debts, magically become energy independent, magically provide the best health care evah! and magically fix the financial markets. Also, free ponies and ice cream for everyone! All at no cost to you! Of course, it never once says HOW it will make all these things magically happen, but to just trust that it will all magically come true.

  • all talk but no balls

  • That is how i did my homework in high school. In the morning before school.

  • I heard the Repub budget is written in crayon.

  • I can only assume they had 19 envelopes left to write on the back of after mailing out all those talking points packages this morning.

  • @burntonion05 ... really, did ya git that from your fellow 5th graders?

  • Nineteen pages? I've jammed out larger homework assignments over an all-nighter. But I have to go see what the great Republican budget is... Pg 1) Income tax cut for those unfortunate enough to be making over 100,000 Pg 2) Tax cuts for all Pharma. Pg 3) Slash medicare and social security. Pg 4) Cut education Pg 5) Tax cuts for oil companies Pg 6) Tax bonuses for shipping jobs overseas. Pg 7) Mandatory wars to provide Haliburton with no-bid contracts. Pg 8) Eliminate welfare. etc...
  • Comment of the day, 47f0!

  • Like Sen. Gregg (R): " We dont have an alternative plan because we are only 40 people". Yeah, I didn't know you needed 100 people to have a working brain.

  • Wow. And I thought I was lazy!

  • If GOPers had some balls they would be able to come up with a conservative (in the real term of the word)budget, but by drafting a budget that actually tackles the economy problem we have, they would have to include serious spending, and that means attacks from the far right and from talk-radio, which translates into losing to new contenders in 2010 GOP primaries. It all boils down to keeping their jobs.

  • 19 pages of the same BS that we had under Bush, yea that will work,

  • Why are folks upset if some folks at MSNBC seemingly lean towards the Dems, when they seem to have no problem with the FOX talking-heads openly working for the GOP?

  • The transparency we've been waiting for-look what gets revealed.

Yes, we're screwed either way with these two parties.

  • I'm imagining some highschool student staying up all last night writing this "budget" for the GOP.

Seriously though... are they on drugs?

  • OWNEDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • budgets are, in their most basic form, a list of numbers.

apparently the GOP is not familiar with this idea

  • See, this is what you get when you keep talking to people who don't have a clue.

So never mind these distractors we have to keep an eye on the so called conservadems.

  • am I hallucinating? Did a member of the MSM actually ask an honest and straight forward question?

  • It was MSNBC to a Republican, of course they would be objective toward them. Now MSNBC to Democrats...yeahh...

  • who had a plan and who didn't?

  • Easy there, I'm talking in general here. I just read the GOP 'plan' and had to laugh.

  • wow...really we are screwed either way.......

  • So what's the deal, Republicans have gone from Fuzzy Math to no Math at all?

  • Full retard.

  • There's nothing in the budget. It's nothing but "Obama thinks that..... Democrats want.... WE LOVE TAX CUTS!!"

    Pathetic

  • Owned

  • LOL

  • But there are no numbers! BUDGETS ARE MEANT TO HAVE NUMBERS AND MATH IN IT OTHERWISE IT WOULDN'T BE A BUDGET!
