wow, i know her by watching the no.1 best boxer in the world, Manny pacman's new boxing workout clips. she can really really sing no wonder she is gona sing the philippine in september 2011 when Manny vs Marquez :D she my new favorite singer next to Charice Pempenco
they got a point... i am a filipino but ones personality, character, talents and well being doesn't get from where you was born... it is how you were raised...it is a blessing.. but in some point... filipinos are just proud that they are listening and watching one filipino standing out of a million... please understand us foreign blood...
Let's all just support her as she develops into an artist.
She is an American first, that is inspired by other artist like Adele, Sia and Jason Mraz.
Thia has this unique voice, but didn't take enough risk and got lost in the group .... and her Finale performance made them doubters' that said she was "boring" (thanks Randy =P) into believers'.
Her work is very beautiful and inspiring to others.
...and lets keep national pride to a minimum and celebrate all her future endeavors.
I'm a Filipino but these "PROUD TO BE FILIPINO" thing is such an embarassment. Is there something you can be proud on yourself? Come on guys. We can do better than that.
@dizzyy2k8 You are right. I'm a Filipino too and these "Proud to be Filipino" or "Pinay Pride" is very annoying. Its alright if we are proud to be Filipinos, but we must not overdo it because it sounds racists and nonsensical. Are we trying to be like Hitler's Germany when Germans are so proud of their Aryan race and disregard the rest? We must be better than that. Lets be humble, okay? The world is if full of talent and NOBODY has the monopoly of talents.
And BTW, Thia really has a good voice. I'm not an avid AI viewer but I got interested when Thia was there and showing her talent. She has a future. She must be careful on these "Proud to be Pinoy" groups because they might actually destroy her chances of being a successful international singer. When you are an international singer, people don't give a damn if the singer is a filipino or chinese or white american or black. They like them because they are good!

Duh... Internationally, Filipinos are Nationalistic. Locally, Filipinos are Regionalistic. That's our TRAIT & all you've got to do is to respect that, because it is already part of our social culture. It is a PRIDE for any one of us to represent our country. Filipinos have "mini-communities" in every country where there are Filipinos. That's how tight we are. We treat one another as family when we are away from our own. All you've got to do is DEAL w/ it & just RESPECT!!!
@TastySorrow um excuse me, did u asked your opinion?! NO. second. @nanaax7 Do you know what Kapampangan is? Obviously not. Her parents are from Pampanga & they are Kapampangans. A Kapampangan is A FILIPINO ethnolinguistic group, having their own dialect which is true to every part of the country. Pampanga is in Luzon, PHILIPPINES. There you go, some facts blasted into your stinky face with stinky manners who doesn't know anything about RESPECT of one's Nationality.
@TastySorrow Thia born and raised in California. Her first language, english. All her life in US. Never seen her speaking in Philippines language. Now theres facts that you should have on your stupid brian, moron, instead of insulting me, inmature little girl. I already now that her parents are from Philippines, so I don't need for you to be a teacher and explain to me, thank you. She's still filipina-american. Not 100% filipina. Keep that on your head.
@ejmc8fmc08 blood is blood. Blood is the same red thing for everyone. And no, she ain't pure filipino; she's half american and half filipina. but more american than anything
@nanaax7 she's FULL FILIPINO. HER PARENTS ARE FULL FILIPINO! are you blind? she's just american because her parents (that are PURE FILIPINO) migrated there. you should learn more..
@ejmc8fmc08 Does she was born and raised in Philippines?! NO! Born and raised in the US makes her AMERICAN, EVEN THOUGH ITS HARD FOR YOU TO ADMIT IT! She only has heritage; filipino heritage. She doesn't even speak tagalog! Her first language is english. She's american with filipino heritage. Even on the websites say it: "Filipino-American Thia Megia" And me learning more? And who are you? My teacher? I don't think so. Sooo good luck with you learning 'cuz ur still on elementary school ;)
She has such beautiful, mature singing voice. He vocal range good. The pretttiest among the Asians who made it to Top 12. However, she has selected boring songs, altho' she sang them really brilliantly. Sometimes we get influenced by what we hear our parents listen to at a young age. Someone should really advise her soon. There are so many songs I wish I could suggest here. Music that the judges and audience can enjoy.
Americans are made of all different nationalities... All these contestants have their own ethnic background... that shouting "proud to be Fillipino" all over is kind of funny!
Thia, you have the judges' blessings. I see that they love you. Do as they have told you to do, and you will make it to the finals. Be very careful of your song choice. Good Luck!
Thia your voice is best when you keep it low and modulated...you lose control when you start to belt...there is a song called Sukiyaki that you would absolutely slay...please consider singing it.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Just want to inform that her parents raised her in Filipino ways,&theyre still fluent in Filipino.Im not really sure about the musical terms, although Im a self-confessed musician, but there are certain sounds that when we utter words,we have that distinctive resonance or modulation whatever that is,w/c is unique in every person. It depends on his/her tongue.Lets take an example,Acoustic duo twin JAYESSLEE.Born&raised in Australia, but still carries KOREAn sound.Thia&Charice share same vocal quality
Please stop bragging that your Filipino. Thia was born and raise in America, so that makes her Fil-american. Lets support this girl because she's amazing and not because of her roots. Her voice is one of a kind and please stop fighting!
as much as people might hate Disney cash cows... she would set herself up for life, and have one of the best and most sure fire platforms in the industry atm... She would be huge...
The judges just aren't feeling her on idol ... i don't think she'll last long... every week they are disappointed... but she can sing ... no doubt...
Starstruck? Look at other videos, she's sang with David Foster and sang at national sporting events with professional athletes. She's been on the news and all over youtube. She's the next Christina Aguilera. I just like Casey's song choice's better. Some people may like Thia song choices better. This is what will decide the winner.
@jackthemeat seems to me like you had a bad encouter with a filipino.. and i can tell you she's not Americanized.. that's not the way americans behave.. and what are you..??
Proud to be Filipino - Pacquiao, Donaire, Charice, Apl de ap, Arnel, Thia speak well of how we can be great, individually speaking. However, do we have enough to show collectively as a people? We praise individual talent and achievements, and flood the cyberspace on how great we are. It's time to praise the proper work ethics, the right values, and the needed discipline that make the above mentioned people great. Let's not simply be satisfied on riding on other countrymen's glory.
THIA you r just AWESOME! i love you and your style. (i'm actually lovin' your SHOES.haha. btw,i'm also 16.)hope you'll make it to the idol finale. I♥you. be strong.
@frisc0pn0ib0i white people generally don't care for asian singers, or actors for that matter (unless they're like kung fu actors or something). it's probably better to advertise her filipino and asian heritage to gather some votes from those groups.
@frisc0pn0ib0i i don't know, but i hope thia megia wins the idol because it kinda sucks she doesn't already have a recording deal or something when she sings that good, young, pretty, and articulate. she's basically what a big recording company wants in america, j-pop, or k-pop if she were white or had more "japanese" or "korean" look.
@bluemonolith88 Remember, it's already hard as it is for Asians to break into US mainstream; constantly spamming comments with "PROUD" messages shows a little bit of bragging and it's not even necessary. It has its right time and place when recognition is held on award shows, newspapers, medias. But the Filipino community don't necessarily have to throw it in people's face all the time...
@frisc0pn0ib0i actually, i would go even a step further and say it's nearly impossible for any Asian singer to break into US mainstream music scene. I do agree, though, that spamming youtube comment with "proud" messages is pretty silly and might cause some backlash. i suppose there's a difference between letting people know that she's filipino and going kinda nuts with it by spamming youtube.
hahahaha... @SICULARI... may i ask where are you from? Pls don`t be annoyed. Supporting someone like Thia and other Filipinos bringing our name is just normal to us. Coz wherever we go in this world, we proudly say that we are FILIPINO!
@joyjoymiso I'm from New York. Like I said, being proud is one thing, flooding youtube with "She is a filipina" is another. Look at all the clips about comparing the divas - Kyla, Jaclyn, Regine, OMG it's insane. The arguments even among Filipinos are borderline obsessive.
Like I said, my fave is Thia and Pia, but you won't believe how many fans are turned off by these comments you guys make in youtube. Please consider.
@siculari OMG Agreed! I'm filipino and I HATED CLINT! His mannerisms and how he treated the little boy was not graceful and his answers about it were not genuine. I like Thia for being different, choosing songs that the regular 15 year old wouldn't choose, her unique tone, her kindness, and voice. I like Pia too. :)
yeh guys! let's show our love and support for thia. Please like her official facebook fanpage. follow her on twitter and myspace. she deserves the most liked idol! here's the link s-
@siculari yehh! i'm a filipino and annoyed as well. why can't other race say - yeh! go casey! i'm too proud being an american! lol.. it's kinda strange right? heheh
@siculari Exactly! I'm there with you though I still feel them. It's a culture i think.
anyway, F*cking Utube doesn't allow my links here so please do the search. There's a lot of crap out there so i suggest to visit the american idol site for the real/authentic page.
all fil-am are talented its in d blood of every filipino. their's so many singers around the world and you can categorize them on how they convey their song to the listener. and there is a million of listener and you can categorize them on how they appreciate the music they heard. there are some who can appreciate music well and there are many who doesnt even know how to appreciate the kind of music soothes to ear and to heart. this one my friend is the example of those...
@FleurDuSerenite her voice has changed since AGT and now o_O nick cannon called her the girl with the big voice but i think the tone that she uses now is much pleasing to listen to
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
OK so this girl is totally not ready. She has no idea who she is. You cant randomly change the way you sing every week. Audition was just like megan joy and now shes doing pop and on agt she did miley cyrus and soul. WTF! DECIDE!
@MrCrayonInk95 variety is the spice of life. it's boring hearing singers do the same style all the time. it takes talent to be able to pull off different styles well.
@ar94952 Really? She sang a soulful black song in her AGT audition, Miley Cyrus in the top 40, on idol she sang adel and now shes singing songs like "you raise me up". The thing is she is changing her voice to make it go with the song. Look at every single contestant on the show. Nobody does that. This is because she doesnt know who she is. She wants to be what gets her votes and thats it.
It seems that Thia Megia is full of manners ( Finesse ) and the way she smile, she looks like a beauty Queen but so innocent. Randy was right her voice is so infectious like the great Michael Jackson . Watch Thia Megia on the American Idol week 10 singing the song " Out here on my own " from Fame.
Amazing voice of Thia like the tone of the greatest Michael Jackson... I guess the judges love her ? and she's so sweet girl... latest video singing out here on my own here: 3/SIo00SMMu1w
@SplitFiRe53748 Well he's basing his vote on the fact that they are good singers and also part of the country. Have some pride! Have a backbone! Everyone has their own biases.
@Royours no he's not. u dont know him personally. idol decided to make him the villain. can u even imagine how many groups kicked out members/left groups?

Thia your voice is best when you keep it low and modulated...you lose control when you start to belt...there is a song called Sukiyaki that you would absolutely slay...please consider singing it.

It depends on his/her tongue.Lets take an example,Acoustic duo twin JAYESSLEE.Born&raised in Australia, but still carries KOREAn sound.Thia&Charice share same vocal quality

disney needs to scoop this girl up...
as much as people might hate Disney cash cows... she would set herself up for life, and have one of the best and most sure fire platforms in the industry atm...

Let's not simply be satisfied on riding on other countrymen's glory.

frisc0pn0ib0i 11 months ago 102
@frisc0pn0ib0i white people generally don't care for asian singers, or actors for that matter (unless they're like kung fu actors or something). it's probably better to advertise her filipino and asian heritage to gather some votes from those groups.
bluemonolith88 11 months ago
@bluemonolith88 While I SO AGREE with you, it's not entirely true. But continuing to do so will still affect how the audience votes for her.
frisc0pn0ib0i 11 months ago
@frisc0pn0ib0i i don't know, but i hope thia megia wins the idol because it kinda sucks she doesn't already have a recording deal or something when she sings that good, young, pretty, and articulate. she's basically what a big recording company wants in america, j-pop, or k-pop if she were white or had more "japanese" or "korean" look.
bluemonolith88 11 months ago
@bluemonolith88 Remember, it's already hard as it is for Asians to break into US mainstream; constantly spamming comments with "PROUD" messages shows a little bit of bragging and it's not even necessary. It has its right time and place when recognition is held on award shows, newspapers, medias. But the Filipino community don't necessarily have to throw it in people's face all the time...
frisc0pn0ib0i 11 months ago
@frisc0pn0ib0i actually, i would go even a step further and say it's nearly impossible for any Asian singer to break into US mainstream music scene. I do agree, though, that spamming youtube comment with "proud" messages is pretty silly and might cause some backlash. i suppose there's a difference between letting people know that she's filipino and going kinda nuts with it by spamming youtube.

hahahaha... @SICULARI... may i ask where are you from? Pls don`t be annoyed. Supporting someone like Thia and other Filipinos bringing our name is just normal to us. Coz wherever we go in this world, we proudly say that we are FILIPINO!
joyjoymiso 11 months ago
@joyjoymiso I'm from New York. Like I said, being proud is one thing, flooding youtube with "She is a filipina" is another. Look at all the clips about comparing the divas - Kyla, Jaclyn, Regine, OMG it's insane. The arguments even among Filipinos are borderline obsessive.
Like I said, my fave is Thia and Pia, but you won't believe how many fans are turned off by these comments you guys make in youtube. Please consider.
siculari 11 months ago 26
@siculari OMG Agreed! I'm filipino and I HATED CLINT! His mannerisms and how he treated the little boy was not graceful and his answers about it were not genuine. I like Thia for being different, choosing songs that the regular 15 year old wouldn't choose, her unique tone, her kindness, and voice. I like Pia too. :)

siculari 11 months ago
@siculari yehh! i'm a filipino and annoyed as well. why can't other race say - yeh! go casey! i'm too proud being an american! lol.. it's kinda strange right? heheh
PlusSizeCostumes1 11 months ago
@PlusSizeCostumes1 I think they need to tone it down a bit. Instead of saying "Filipino pride!" they can say, "Please vote for Thia she is amazing".
siculari 11 months ago
@siculari Exactly! I'm there with you though I still feel them. It's a culture i think.
anyway, F*cking Utube doesn't allow my links here so please do the search. There's a lot of crap out there so i suggest to visit the american idol site for the real/authentic page.
PlusSizeCostumes1 11 months ago
all fil-am are talented its in d blood of every filipino. their's so many singers around the world and you can categorize them on how they convey their song to the listener. and there is a million of listener and you can categorize them on how they appreciate the music they heard. there are some who can appreciate music well and there are many who doesnt even know how to appreciate the kind of music soothes to ear and to heart. this one my friend is the example of those...

OK so this girl is totally not ready. She has no idea who she is. You cant randomly change the way you sing every week. Audition was just like megan joy and now shes doing pop and on agt she did miley cyrus and soul. WTF! DECIDE!

ar94952 11 months ago
@ar94952 Really? She sang a soulful black song in her AGT audition, Miley Cyrus in the top 40, on idol she sang adel and now shes singing songs like "you raise me up". The thing is she is changing her voice to make it go with the song. Look at every single contestant on the show. Nobody does that. This is because she doesnt know who she is. She wants to be what gets her votes and thats it.
MrCrayonInk95 11 months ago

It seems that Thia Megia is full of manners ( Finesse ) and the way she smile, she looks like a beauty Queen but so innocent. Randy was right her voice is so infectious like the great Michael Jackson . Watch Thia Megia on the American Idol week 10 singing the song " Out here on my own " from Fame.
