A bro on a serious note I'm from Washington state trying to buy a snapping turtle how would I get 1 if places would not ship here I know there's ways around it. I really want 1
@WingLiger496 wow thats tiny, if its a common snapper u can feed it fish and chicken in bite-size, crickets from petstore, and try turtle pellets as well, but if its an ali. snapper I'm not sure if they'll eat anything except live fish, so u need to find some really small feeder fish...
but honestly if it comes from the wild, let it go back to the wild, they'll find their way to live=]
@cross7fu Well it looks like the turtle in the video, soI'm gonna asumme it's a gator snapper. Right now we've got him eating lettuce and turtle pellets and it seems to do the trick for now (he's refusing meat, oddly enough)
We don't plan on keeping him as a pet. It's really just for the winter. Come summer we're gonna let him go back where we found him.
@OMGMunkay u can buy a storage tub from walmart, some of them are pretty big and they can last for years, but eventually snapping turtles are gonna get really big, always plan ahead for your pets, especially these big monsters
@Amatersaru1 well they are very easy to take care of, they are not sensitive to water condition and they eat almost anything (of course u should feed them aquatic creatures and turtle pellet as main diet), but they can reach 2 feet and they have powerful jaws that can bite off your finger easily, so be4 u get one of these u really need to educate yourself,u definitely need a pond to room it when its full grown, and keep it away from kids and other pets
Since these are endangered in Kentucky (Where I live) We aren't aloud to keep them as pets without a permit. There's also one that lives in my pond. Its huge we found it on the bank like 4 weeks ago. It domintates the other turtles we bactually bought as pets. Lol.
@USMCjunior117 well snappers are not for beginners forsure, but actually they are really easy to take care of since they are really strong animals and they can live in very harsh conditions(temperature, water condition), filter is not necessary as long as u do water change every few days, and UV light as well coz they live in the water for most of the time
The mainly concern of keeping them are safety, space and nutritious diet, they can reach 2 feet long and they've got 2nd strongest jaw pressure in the world, thats why they are not good for beginners, and its better to train they to eat pellets when they are small, so u can feed them both live food and pellets for a more balance diet
damn he looks badass lol, he's a little larger then mine. i'm sure yours is alot bigger by now. good thing he wasn't in the tank with the other turlte they would have tried to eat him. i learned that the hard way with and older and younger turtle.
I found one just a little bigger on a camping trip (ohio) and he bit me. i cared for him then released im in a river very near to where i found him. they are very cool when small, but very hard to care for once large. and you cant dump them, they wouldnt know how to eat. so i recomend only get one if you can care for it once it grows up. i am a reptile lover! =]
they are not ugly and did you know they can get up to 190 pounds when full grown adults?!? I have two and they grew 6 inches there first year. Again they are NOT ugly to each his own!! cool video too by the way.
it cost around $300CAD @ petshop, $125 @ reptile expo, but u need more than $300 for the tank, equipment, food and money in case it needs to see the vet
you can get two for 90.00 or so from the turtleman in mo u.s.a only i think. look for his web site i got two mailed them next day and we named them bert and ernie hatchlings as well still had yoke belly button on. Joseph T (fly2000jtb)
Not so good, they need water to swim, which is exercise to them, and wif more water the water quality goes bad slower
Also aquarium heaters will overheat and break if it expose to the air, which may happen if the water is too shallow and u forgot to refill the evaporated water
Haha thx, I love them, but not as crazy as my friends
The bad thing about snakes is u need to feed them mice/rats, and not everyone of them eat frozens
But the good thing is they only eat once a week, and some snakes like corn and hognose are pretty small and so tame that even children can handle them
If u wanna get one of these, make sure u got enough space for them, u got basic knowledge about taking care of a turtle and understand they are not friendly animals when they grow up
just think he will live longer then our grand kids O_O

owenmf 9 months ago
@owenmf if it is a newborn it should have a yolk on its belly, it can provide energy to the baby so it doesnt need to eat for the first few days
put it into the water wif water level just above the shell, wait for few more days and put small fish and shrimps in it see if it starts fishing
