  • @Weatherman436:

I think the signal from Network Center in Atlanta stopped communicating with intellistar before it signaled it to shut off.

So the local information continued to be shown at the bottom of the screen at this headend.

  • Eiter the cable provider turned it on or TWC went out while it was up. Or it malfunctioned, then the power surge and it was left on. Who knows?

  • Jen is sex on a stick. Yummy!

  • "The setting sun" by trammellon part 0:00 "Season on the edge" by trammell on part 5:05 and " Jamaicanjam" by trammell on part 7:03

  • I live in Bangor Maine and the Weather Channel is often Way Way Way off with the current temps but I don't know why. Right now it's 80 degrees outside in the shade but the weather channel has said it's 72 degrees since before noon. It should have updated long by now. There are also times when the Weather Channel says that Bangor man is much hotter than it really is too. They often get the humidity levels wrong as well. Anyone know why???

  • ps oops meant to say Bangor Maine not man. ha ha ha

  • It's probably because Bangor, Maine is not an area of their focus no offense. They're often talking about Atlanta way too much since they're based out of there.

  • @davidscalling well they also pronounce is bangah maine too dont know whyLOL

  • Were they able to animate those maps?

  • i dont think so...it may have been too much for the servers or whatever when they were trying to recover from it. I think they didnt want to crash their system, so they didnt animate them. Provides an interesting look at how they used to do their segments(sort of)

  • Then you call the shots.... and see if you are more accurate...

I've been a storm chaser for 10 years and when somebody like yourself makes a comment like that, it just shows you're an unintelligent person.

  • Amen, Mr. President. Many people don't really appreciate how hard it is. I've been working with meteorologists both directly and indirectly since I was probably about 14, and I can say it's not as easy as one thinks. Considering there's so much about the atmosphere that may never be known, such as why not all supercells with strong rotation spit out tornadoes...or even the exact method by which liquid can store charge like a battery and build up electric potential in the millions of volts.

  • I noticed it and was going to take a video. I was to sad still since the Packers had lost the NFC playoff game a few days before :(.

  • I remember this so well! At about 5:45 that morning, I woke up to get ready for school got breakfast, and turned on the Weather Channel. I expected to see the Weather Star 4000(because my cable company still has one), but instead I saw the satellite forecast with Trammell Starks music! And then I saw an OCM segment and another sattellite forecast, and I thought that maybe they were finally upgrading our 4000 to an XL. But the I got home and it was all back to normal.

  • So the 4000's LDL wasn't on? Interesting.....

  • Network Control was dead, which is why I am curious as to why your LDL was on.

  • Well, the thing is a switch might have been bumped or something to turn it on (considering like I said, this was the only LDL that was on nationwide). It was clicking on and off the night before, and I tried to cap it then, but to no avail. I was up early for class that morning, so I just hit the DVR on.

  • Yeah the LDL on command might have been sent from NOC to the STAR's and that might have been the last command it received, meaning it was told to stay on, then lost communication.

  • My 4000's LDL hasn't been showing on national segments for months now.

  • She's a fellow Penn Stater though :(

  • LOL... Oh well. Heh

  • "The odd thing is that the Junior's LDL was left on for most of the morning, even on the satellite segments. I don't think the IntelliSTAR or XL had their LDL's on."

Well, that's just cause the Intellistar sucks. =PP

  • I think my WS4000's LDL was on, and it is almost never on nowadays.

  • You are so lucky to have a WeatherSTAR Jr. redoctober90! I really hate the IntelliSTAR!

I hope Rupert Merdoct doesn't accrire TWC, or else, the future for the Juinor and 4000 does't look good. Plus, I always have hated Fox anyways.

  • Are you sure that this was January 22, 2008??? Looks like 2006!!!

  • Yup, it was 2008. I didn't have a Junior in January 2006.

  • cold!!!

  • damn she is so HOT!

  • At least my intellistar didn't have it's LDL in Iperial, MO.

  • she makes me horny

  • She's married, bcout26.

  • That Trammell Starks music is just awesome.

  • I totally agree with you on that!!!

  • I don't know why there wasn't an LDL bar at that same time.

  • Was the LDL bar appeared on the entire outage?

  • yeah

  • It was off right after the outage but started up again in the wee hours of the morning.

  • When was this clip taken?

    BTW, Jen looks HOT!

  • Uh....I don't know...:) Just kidding. January 22, 2008, beginning at 6:39:34 AM.

  • doh i couldb'e noticed that!!

  • Hey!, I was watching TWC at that time trying to figure out what happened.

  • I just went back and looked at the observations from State College (KUNV) for Monday night and Tuesday morning, and I can pin point that the observations on your Jr's LDL were from around 10:30 PM ET Monday, which is precisely when TWC had their power surge.

  • The odd thing is Monday night, the LDL only showed up briefly before going out (and did not come back on until early Tuesday morning.)

  • That Trammell Starks song is "Season On Edge".
