  • Great videos! Where can i get a berkey water purifier? I live in sweden and I can't find anything on ebay. Maybe somewhere in the UK where I can order one?

  • @Knifee93 I'm not sure, you'll need to do a little hunting around on the web and maybe ask some suppliers if they ship to Sweden.

  • Nice. But more of a commercial than anything else. Wanna talk basics, try small gravel, sand and charcoal, afterall those are things that one does not need to worry about the local stores being out of when disaster strikes.

  • @rickvanman You have videos of chemtrails up over your house.. and you would drink rain water full of those chemicals. How do you get those things out of your water to make it safe to drink?

  • @cookieiscoolest I use a Berkey water purifier

  • @cookieiscoolest .... Why don't you tell us what's in a "chemtrail"?

  • @BIGMUDDYDOG probably because you'd say that plane exhaust doesnt contain anything but water and CO2.. car exhaust only contains water and CO2 as well doesnt it :)

  • I don't mind to learn how to do it with all the equipment available. but i do mind to learn how to distill water WHEN you got nothing left just looting around. for instance, for some one is not prepare at all. i think that would be very useful.

  • How to purify your pee? Same procedure?

  • @rycka1983 Pretty basic as municapalities do it everyday, and its called "city water"

  • After watching your video I did some research and found a miracle online. The WebTex Surviva-Pure canteen I use it all the time no need for tablets or chems strait from any water source except salty water tastes great as well. Look it up.

  • I've found your information very helpful in my preparation to be self sufficient should the need arise and will add a playlist of your videos to the World United News Site.

One of the issues that has crossed my mind lately is, ‘radiation’ due to the disaster at Fukushima in Japan. Since radiation will fall with the rain, what would your recommendations be for collecting water? Is there anything that can be done about a rain barrel, or would it be best to gather water from a river or lake?

  • how do you put water in the kelly kettle if it doesn't have a bottom and the thing i love about your videos is they are sometimes very long but you dont feel it you never think oh this is too long ill switch over to a different video your just amazing

  • @coolkid599gto Thanks for the kind comments. The kelly kettle has its reseviour within the walls (they're hollow).

  • how do you put in water if it doesn't have a bottom

  • i have been checking up on a lot of things need help how long can water be storedfor if container is sealed air tight and what would happen if water was contaminated .im looking for ball park figures on keeping waterstored and canned food

  • @jonbobbie Its tricky. water will usually store for a long time, same as tinned food (many years).

Your nose will usually tell you if it's off or not. but there are of course exceptions to the rules. Acid-based foods such as tinned tomatoes can have issues. For water, keep a decent water filter handy, so if your water does seem 'off', you can filter it. something like a Berkey sport or Berkey light would be ideal.

  • @rickvanman thanks for your help ido use my sence of smell sometimes it don't work i'll stick with the filter if things seem off thanks

  • Greetings from the United States.

I hope you do not mind but I'm making a playlist of your videos. The ways things are going here in the US, it seems we're heading to dark times and considering that about 60%+ watch American Television, this is where their most of their "knowledge" is thought to them. Sad, yes but true.

Anyways, hopefully people can learn from your videos through my channel and for the sake of our nation, learn how to survive without a tv, wal-mart, xboxs etc etc.

    Thanks.

  • @UseYourThink Greetings - hey, no problem al all - glad you are finding the videos useful. Yes it's quite scary the number of people out there with a diploma in TV uneducation! Lets hope enough people get that addressed before it's too late.

  • yo how come the water turns green

  • well i hope I never get desperate enough to voluntarily put chlorine in my water... I've just spent £300 on a Big Berky filter to remover it from my bleachy tasting tap water.

  • @XXTheRealMcCoyXX LOL I've now got myself a Berkey too and I know where you are coming from.

  • Thought you supposed to use Calcuim Hypochlorite?

  • Awesome vid, I'm gonna look for a Kelly kettle, Damn Brits always keeping the good stuff a secret.....................

  • alcohol can also work to clean your water. So what do u wanna drink bleach or rum?

  • Boiling water doesn't remove pollutants, right?

  • @mmorrtt No. If the water is contaminated, you'll need to filter it too

  • Two days ago I bought a package of chlorine dioxide tabs and it states on the package that you should wait four (4) hours to make sure that any cryptosporidium in the water is killed. Tough little cysts aren't they?

  • Boiling water Rule = BIG BUBBLES < NO TROUBLES

  • @MAJESTIC10110 Cool way to remember!

  • What are the chances of an emergency or crisis in the UK?

  • @ilikebeertoo There is always a chance of an emergency or crisis in the UK, just as there is in the rest of the world. We have become very complacent in the UK because nothing major has happened in recent years. That complacency will cost many people dearly if / when a crisis does strike.

  • @ilikebeertoo go watch 28 weeks later. xD

  • @ilikebeertoo i agree with rickvanman...the only thing you can control is how well you will be prepared in a crisis event which can come from many different sources..

  • Very good videos Rick, im glad to see a UK prepper so well informed. A good trick to remove the chlorine taste/smell from the water after you've purifed it is to tranfser it from one container to another and"air" the water to gice it a better flavour.

Keep uo the good work mate and i look forward to your next vid.

  • Thanks for the tip :o) Hope to be getting a Berkey next week!

  • Thanks for posting helpful information.

  • Thanks for this, I needed to know this stuff for when the zombies attack.

... I'M NOT CRAZY! Ha ha ha

  • @Collin8843 lmao..thats exactly why i came here:)

  • Good info, additionally: Pick up a few eye droppers from the drug store (chemist) to accurately measure your bleach. Bleach has a shelf life, but it is cheap, so get a new jug every 6 months. I write the expire date on the jug with marker when I buy a new one and keep it only for emergency use, not for the washing. A double layer of paper coffee filters in a Melita filter holder is another easy to find and cheap pre-filter for cloudy water

  • Then, how do you get the chemicals out of the water?

  • @ManWitSkillzZ It depends on the the chemicals. If they have a lower boiling point than water, you can simply boil the water and they will boil-off. If they have a higher boiling point, you're either looking at reverse osmosis, or distillation.

  • wow! you´ve got a lot of gadgets man :-)

  • Just enough for the basics.

  • those kelly kettles are absolutely brilliant!! had one of those for years!!

  • dag nab it you are handy to have around. do you like slightly older women? :)

  • LOL - now who's the one teasing :o)

  • not teasing dag nab it. i thought we went through this...i am older than you...right? and if i hit on you any harder you will be bruised. face it...if we lived near each other i would have batted my eye lashes until you asked me out! you shoot and edit video. you can grow plants and construct things. your smart, prepared, and adorable. sue me...my crush has not faded!

  • Fraid I'm hopeless at reading the opposite sex -and I mean HOPELESS!

Girl, you got it bad! I find cold showers work best LOL! :o)

  • ouch...sent to the showers i am.....

  • Excellent information Rick. Thank you.

I once boiled water in a home made solar oven. I was testing the oven but I guess it proved you could use one to purify water.

  • Hi Paul - thanks for the comment. I really want to have a go at a solar oven soon. At the moment we just don't have enough sun to warrant building one.

Hope to build a brick oven on the summer though :o)

  • OK, now no disrespect - but surely if your in a place where your able to buy bleach they might be also selling bottles of water? Or am I just not getting this series...? :P

  • LOL Nice one Niall - I love your sense of humour!

  • Good everybody should see this.

  • Excellent presentation. I have been studying survival skills for many years now, and I learned some new things today about water purification that I did not know before. Thanks for the education.

    John

  • Thanks John, appreciate the positive comment - and always glad to help :o)

  • May I add that having a proper cast iron stove is a good plan for heating, cooking and light

  • You may! Thanks for the suggestion :o)

  • srry rick, but are you acspacting armagedon?

  • No, but I'll be ready if it comes LOL!

  • No but he's expecting a massive spelling crisis to sweep over the nation...

  • Rick, how the project of Hydroponics is? Any video coming?

  • hope to do an update soon

  • Is that a typo in the title? Was it meant to be how to purify water?

  • oops! typo! thanks for the heads-up :o)
