I think both reditions of Squall's voice works. The original one is how I imagine him to sound in his mind, a little more casual, a little more openly unsure of himself, and generally more free. This one is how I imagine him to actually speak to people, at least at first. More cold, and taciturn, but as things progress, he starts sounding a little closer to how he is in his mind. Great job.

great job! I love how you don't sound nasal-y and overly somber. It seems that's a (atleast to me) a misstep to Squall's character. He's got a lot going on in his head and I imagine that every time he talked, it would always sound like a statement that summed up to be a short as possible haha and I adore your hesitation moments too =D

Holy shit you got one great voice. You got the whole indifferent tone down, as well as the tone he'd take when he opens up to someone. The only tones your missing is his angry tone and his annoyed tone. A little more strained contempt rising as he says things like "Squall was this and that. Using past tense. Saying whatever they want. So this is what death is about." And you need to put a little more "pissed off" in it at some points. Such as his "No... I won't have it!" But you're cool
