  • Wow :( I'm sorry to hear that your body reacted that way to Implanon! I've had mine in for a year and a half now. It has completely stopped my period from the day I got it put in. I've experienced no weight gain and no noticeable bad side effects. However, when I went on the Depo shot (I was on it for 2 years?) I gained almost 50 lbs. Also, you're going to need to take calcium supplements with the depo because depo makes your bones weak/brittle.

  • I hope the poster of this video realizes that Depo and Implanon both have the exact same hormonal compound (progestin), and therefore if the implanon is causing fibroid cysts, the depo will as well. If it doesn't, it was something other than the hormone causing them. I have been on Implanon for a little over 3 years now (yes, that means I'm on my second one!), and I absolutely love it. I haven't had a period in the entire time I've had it, and I have no other side effects.

  • Though it's unfortunate that this birth control method had this effect on you I'm glad I watched this video because who knows what method I would have turned to. Now I know not to trust Implanon, who knows what it would have done to me if I got it. Hope you recover soon. :)

  • I'm on the implanon and I think it is fantastic! I tried Nuvaring and I vomited for about a month. I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you.I love it, but my friend who got it about a month before i did has been on her period for six months. It is truly amazing how women differ so much.

  • Ive had this in for a year now nd i havnt had my period but i hav gaind weight :( witch sux @kittin127 it is not painful at all u wont feel a thing!

  • Im hopeing to get it done but i dont do well with pain

  • I have this birth control, and ive had the SAME problems, when i get incurance this thing is coming out! Ive had alot of problems! Thank you because i thought i was the only one! I hope it gets better, because i know how it is!

  • your body probably wont agree with that birthcontrol or any other birth control, I would consider natural birth control methods, such as planning and scheduling your ovulation, and marking it on the calender. Not having sex on the 4 days you ovulate.

  • find the birthcontrol that is good for you! :) I tried patch...irritated my skin and breasts, took the pill but as a student with a bunch of classes...not so good! the shot worked perfectly! I loved it :) had it for 2 years now....but i want to leave it because of the bone problems...and I will get the implant! :)

  • thanks for the info...its making me think twice on getting it not....

  • Hey everyone - well I have had an Implanon for 3 Years and it worked well, I only had my period twice a year very litely. Once I was bleeding for more than a week and my doctor gave me a pack of the pill to take with the implant for a month - after that I was absolutely hassle free. Getting my second implant tomorrow. I would do it again at any time.

  • I had the implanon insterted a year ago. i didnt get my period for f4 months, and when it came i got extremely bad cramps. i have also became way hairier and i have to shave more often, hairs are way thicker as well. my lower back hurt a LOT! but what i hated the most was the weight gain. i weighted 130lbs when i started, and the day of the removal i weighted 165lbs! as of now it has been a month since the removal, and i have not exercised, taken diet pills, or dieted and i have lost 14 lbs!

  • I HAVE BEEN ON THE IMPLANON FOR 3 YEARS AND A HALF I WAS 15 WHEN I GOT IT NOW IM 18 AND THE ONLY THING THAT HAPPEN TO ME WAS MY PERIOD IT STOPPED FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND THE ONLY THING I HAD WAS SPOTTIN (NUN SERIOUS) BUT I THINK IT GOOD FOR YOU BECAUSE HONESTLY YU REALLY DONT KNOW IF UR ON IT....

  • Upto 6 months of crazy bleeds is normal, a doctor will not remove them in the UK until atleast 6 months. You can take the pill as well to control periods and just leave the implant in

  • Well it all depends on ur body, my sister has it n she has alot of spotting but rarely gets her period, her friend has it as well n her period stpped completely, and i have it and i have a very light period for about three weeks and then a month i will only have spotting everynow and then. I do recomend it. But like i said it has to do with everyones individual body n how ur body responds to it.

  • I used the depo and like you said I had a period for 5 months with no break I do not suggest it at all :/

  • I got the implinon in Sept. 2010 after having my first son in July. I have been on my period sense November. It stops for no more than few days. I have very painful and unusual cramps. I am terrified of what happend to you happen to me! Im going to remove mine asap. I cant get the IUD because my uterus is too short, so i think ill go with the patch.

  • how old are you just wondering not trying to be a hater i wanna go on imlanon but im not 18 and dont know if i can get it with out parent consent

  • omg thats crazy..... i've had the implanon for a year now and i like it. at first i would blood like 2 weeks ata time for 3 months and now its just 3 to 4 days every month....... things are werid when they can work fine for one person and make things worse on someone else. but im glad u got it out and taking care of your self..... HES cute!

  • i had the same nonstop bleed for 3 months then it stopped for 1 month and again 3 months... i hated it.. .. now it has completly stopped

  • I got the same thing exactly one month after you and also have had virtually non stop bleeding. I'm tired all the time and had weird blood results so pretty sure I'll get it removed shortly. Perhaps the symptoms are more common than they make out!

  • I would not consider the depo... My friend had it for 2 rounds of it. She is now trying to get pregnant and she has conceived twice, both pregnancies resulting in misscarraige due to the harm the depo had done to her uterin lining... Maybe yull will have better luck but i would not recomend it... If you plan to have children in the future its not a good idea!

  • Depo was horrible for me after I had my daughter. Once I got off of it, my periods were abnormal for years..And now Im pretty sure I am unable to get pregnant. Been with my now husband for 13 years, and no protection, no baby. If anyone is wondering Im 31..so its fine for me to be trying for a baby now that my daughter is 14..

  • @mazzystar131 wow i'm so sorry to hear that. i definitely want to have another child far down the road. how long have you been on the depo and when did you stop getting it?

  • @LindsandBaby I was on the depo for 3 years, started it after the birth of my daughter and stopped at age 18 when I was no longer on my parents insurance. Never got a period while on depo..Which if you think about it, youre a woman and women need their periods. Great for people who is doesnt effect. But like you, this was my experience with Depo. I never had weight gain or weight loss with it, but a friend of mine in high school who was on it, did fluctuate in weight.

  • Oh my gosh!!!! How horrible, I'm so sorry to hear about how your body reacted to this. I just got my first depo shot last week but I was never warned about the possible weight gain or lack of a period. Can't wait to hear how the shot works out for you. I hope the cysts go away on their own!

  • @cathysagal3 i'm actually excited to have no periods, except for the constant worry that the shot didn't work or something. but i use double protection anyway. i hope they go away too, they're getting really painful by the day. thanks for your concern :)

  • Wow, we got our around the same time in November! lol. I currently have Implanon and I hate it also. I too have had frequent bleeding. I have been period free for about 2 weeks now, but I do plan to have it removed soon. Sometimes I feel like I am having pregg symptoms (bloating, cravings, exhaustion). They make it sounds great, but it isn't all of that.

  • @SweetCheeks6883 omg! i had the pregnancy symptoms too. i was always exhausted, wanting to take naps, and i have cravings all the time! especially for sushi and cream soda. lol. those are the recent ones. but definitely get it taken out. i'm glad i did.

  • My friend had implonon and she gained 30 pounds!!! defenitley not good she had it taken out too

  • @k91290 wow! i haven't gained any weight with it, but i do have the painful cysts :( thank goodness it's removed because they're getting more painful.

  • The depo shot is great, except it really made me gain weight. it was only 5 pounds, but i was on a diet and it was SOOOO hard to lose. but besides that, its pretty great. lol.

  • @XjessiXtuckerX gosh, i'm on a diet now so i'm hoping it doesn't make me gain weight! especially since i have a metabolism on the slower side. i've heard it makes you gain weight though, so i'm not happy about that.

  • have you tried nuvaring? it works great and its only once a month!

  • @littlechivita i don't like the idea of having anything, ya know, up theree lol. i've heard good things about it though! if the depo doesn't work out, i'll look into it. thank you :)

  • They wont give the depo at my dr at all because it causes ostioprosis. (sp) Have you ever looked into trying mirena?

  • @Crazyclutz125 wow! i didn't know that. but yes, i've done some research on it. and i don't like the risks of it. it has a risk of fusing to your uterus so you can't have children.. that's why you have to have had a baby to even get access to it.

  • you are sooo pretty. thanks for the review :) x

  • @XBexxehKitteh thank you so much, you're welcome :)

  • I had this in and I had no period with it at all. But I didnt like it so I got it removed. x

  • @martinamoylan that's what the doctor told me would happen, but of course it didn't! i never got any period cramps, i just constantly had the bleeding. now that it's out i'm getting period cramps, which is a disadvantage :(

  • @LindsandBaby Yeah I totally know what you mean even though I had no periods I had the cramps through out the time I had it in my arm. Now its out around 5 months and Ive had two periods since then, the first one wasnt really a period more like a show of blood and went away the same day. But three days a go I got my period and it hasnt gone away so Im hoping my cycling is coming back to normal because next year my fiance and I are going to try for a baby and I want my cycle normal first xxxx

  • wait so your period lasts for more then 3 weeks?

  • @makeupforever8 yesss, i pretty much had a period for 5 months straight. i didn't bleed for about 10 days total since i got it implanted in my arm. and it wasn't a light period either.

  • The depo shot was HORRIBLE for me personally! i got 2 shots which equal 6 months of birth control, i stopped after the 6 months, during this time i lost a ton of hair, got clots, had an irregular period, it took me 9 months to get a period again, and 2 years before my period was ever even close to regular. then i went on the birth control pill, and that started my bodies ovulating again and i got pregnant. so for me the shot is horrible! but everyones experience is different.

  • @erfrada wow! if i notice any of these symptoms i'm probably not going to keep going with the depo shot. but all of my friends that have it haven't had any trouble with it, so i'm hoping i have the same experience as them.

  • How terrifying. I'm glad you're getting the stick removed tomorrow. Be safe! xoxo

  • @bellaamariela thank you, definitely. i'm glad i got it removed!

  • dang a stick in your arm that you can feel sounds so creepy! i dont think i could do that. thats a crazy story

  • @smartwater10 yesss, and it's creepy how they put it in too. the needle like stretches your skin. it's nasty!
