how does the snare sound band? he doesn't play heavy drumming. his snare is perfect for jazz, fusion, swing, light rock, and other situations. but it would work great anywhere. some people tune their snares so that they have a huge attack and fast decay (for a snare, that is), whilst others, such as assaf, tune it so it responds at very low volumes. that's especially good for rolls and drags and all of that stuff, but i'm just dragging on...

I keep this video on my computer desktop, and watch it once a week. I think it's a great example of how to play the drums without any other instruments involved, and make them sound like music. This video reminds me of what drums can sound like when they're PLAYED.
To MasuraoX1, you obviously do not play any instrument, or don't play one very well, because you don't understand a little thing called dynamics (sp?) drummer that always pounds as hard as possible = shit.
I can't believe the sour grapes from other drummers. The man is excellent. He's not trying to pour everything he knows into one solo . . . he's merely grooving a bit and showing off with some flash. Hey, all you other vain, egocentric (and jealous) drummers, give the dude his props. Some of you sound like sissy guitar players.
i don't see anything in the drumming rulebook that you have to beat the shit out of everything every time you hit it. what he is doing is called good technique. he is very relaxed and obviously playing with very little tension.
Just a couple of interesting things he (the drummer) learned individualy that lasts for 2 seconds and then repeats itself. And then, it dies. I've never seen anything else available from "Assaf"... just this one with a couple of very good grooves and some very short repeated (creative but easy) tricks. He could not entertain me for 8 minutes in a roll with different ideas and sick coordination like Buddy, but he's surely good. No doubt.
One one will be a thousand time better than Buddy. Remember Buddy was professional at 4 years old. This is guy is talented but how many big bands has the led?
this is pretty awesome and to all the people that said stuff like "you're not famous so you can't be good, i've never heard of you' some of the best musicians are the obscure ones that either never got a break or don't want to be famous, and yes he does groove.

I keep this video on my computer desktop, and watch it once a week. I think it's a great example of how to play the drums without any other instruments involved, and make them sound like music. This video reminds me of what drums can sound like when they're PLAYED.

To MasuraoX1, you obviously do not play any instrument, or don't play one very well, because you don't understand a little thing called dynamics (sp?) drummer that always pounds as hard as possible = shit.

I can't believe the sour grapes from other drummers. The man is excellent. He's not trying to pour everything he knows into one solo . . . he's merely grooving a bit and showing off with some flash. Hey, all you other vain, egocentric (and jealous) drummers, give the dude his props. Some of you sound like sissy guitar players.

i don't see anything in the drumming rulebook that you have to beat the shit out of everything every time you hit it. what he is doing is called good technique. he is very relaxed and obviously playing with very little tension.

Just a couple of interesting things he (the drummer) learned individualy that lasts for 2 seconds and then repeats itself. And then, it dies. I've never seen anything else available from "Assaf"... just this one with a couple of very good grooves and some very short repeated (creative but easy) tricks. He could not entertain me for 8 minutes in a roll with different ideas and sick coordination like Buddy, but he's surely good. No doubt.

the grooving he did here basically proves that he can play in a bad. like some of the stuff werent just soloing - you could have put it to music
