  • what kind of people in the navy get to do boarding partys??cause im joining RAN soon and i aint to sure to pick clearance diver or seaman officer what is better??

  • HMAS boarding parties are desrcibed in this video "Australian Navy-Boarding party"

  • I had a quick look at your North Sea Vids, interesting work ! And the Ska stuff :D

You are right about the radar, but during boardings it wasn't required. On some of the boardings the amount of rubbish that was thrown up by the downwash was interesting. Quarterdeck boardings were avoided for that reason.

    .

  • Thanks for answering, later I was reading the additional information (more info). You are right, assume it is more safer to to landing on a hatch cover. Nowadays when a workvessel is going alongside an offshore unit, on board the unit they also require to switch off the radar. Good luck and all the best. Best regards.

  • What was the reason for boarding, or was it an exercise only ?

  • it was a cargo vs manifest check, to make sure all the cargo was accounted for, had a valid end user address and was not prohibited cargo that might have ended up in Iraq via Jordan. It wasn't an exercise, but it was a co-operative boarding. In retrospect it would have been safer to drop onto the main deck.

  • Better to use RHIB then

  • @Revenant83 I think the vessel was 2 high above the waterline.

  • that was really risky
