I wasn't actually sick, but felt a bit disorientated, and a bit headachey. horrible though. The ship was tiny, an ex-steamer, and got really thrown up and down. the new ferries are meant to be much better....

It might be cold, but it's much better to be outside where it's cool. It helps. Watch the horizon or go to sleep. Being awake and inside looking at all the stationary objects is the worst possible thing to be doing.
I've been blind drunk till i threw up another human being, ive been sick and high from other drugs, ive had the flu for 3 weeks, had mono for 6 months, had solminila for 2 weeks...but nothing is quite like seasickness...UGGGHH
It is unremitting nausea, and vomiting brings very little relief from it. Try lying down, with eyes closed. Either fix your eyes on the horizon, or close those eyes!
