Athena is my absolute favorite character in the entire KOF series, but she was at her deadliest in KOF 97. Then they nerfed her lift up move and destroyed the ability to run up under an opponent and bust off the Shining Crystal Bit.
@angryellow313 Same here. I have high hopes for her in KOF XIII with audacious Japanese play such as in watch?v=-Z0UpnaGqZ4&t=9m30s, and Justin Wong representing her in the states. I really wish I had this game myself, so I can participate in the scene and contribute to the Athena metagame.
Delay time oh her moves has decreased, her super Phoenix arrow has absolutely NO lag time after use meaning you can practically chain it into a combo after uses.
And her moves all have high priority. She's even the highest tier character if you look at the official KOF 2002 tier list.
super Phoenix Arrow = you mean "Phoenix Fang Arrow"? If so, I agree. If it's blocked, player can combine it with weak teleport to go behind opponent, then use Psycho Sword.
But it still need power gauge.
She's not the numb.1 broken char in this game. It's Rugal!
KOF 2002 balanced? no. Rugal is too cheap in this game.
KOF 2002 great? yes. It's dream match, and most of all character's move can be combined easily in this game with MAX mode.
