There was a supreme court order to remove the UNCOSNTITUTIONAL WRECKING OF THE COUNTRY BY THE CRIMINAL Zelaya, attempted to seat himself for more than 2 terms by having a bullshit referendum codnucted by his fascist cronies. Fact is that part fo the Honduras is NOT CHANGEABLE. There can be no change to it. No more than 2 terms for a president. That is a fact. You can't change it even by the amendment process which that crook Zelaya didn't even try.

I believe the Honduran military removed Zelaya from the office of the Presidency unde the order of the Honduran Supreme Court. Zelaya wanted a referendum placed on the ballot that would have amended the Honduran constitution to allow him to run for a more terms as president. However the Honduran constitution has several provisions that are not amendable. The number of terms that a president may serve is one of them. Were this a "coup" would the Vice President of Honduras now be the President?

I did not comment on the rightness or wrongness of the coup, only whether it could be characterized as such. And frankly, it this wasn't a coup, I fail to see how any removal by force of a chief executive of a nation could be called one.

Historically (Byzantium comes to mind) some nations have the whole idea of a coup built into the political structure. Weird, but true.

The military did not carry out this removal on their own. They did it on the orders of the Supreme Court and with the support of the Honduran Legislature. Zelaya was overstepping his authority by demanding that the referendum be placed on the ballot. He was warned against doing it yet did it anyway. He was removed with cause. It may not be outright lying by Maddow, but it's a misrepresentation of the facts.

It is very likely Obama will try to change or get rid of the U.S. Constitution. When he does, there definitely will be a coup in the U.S. just like in Honduras.
