This song is a parody of "My Little Grass Shack In Kealakekua, Hawaii," which was a #1 hit for Ted Fio Rito & his Orchestra in 1934. It took 17 years but finally Yogi (who was really dialect comedian Harry Stewart) got around to skewering it. Although Harry died in a car crash in 1956, his 1949 two sided hit "Yingle Bells"/"I Yust Go Nuts At Christmas" remains a million-selling classic.
Only this guy could wax nostalgic for Minnesota. I lived in St. Paul 3 years, and owing to the cold weather I'd be just as happy if I never saw the place again. Great people, but too cold for normal air-breathing humans to exist. If you have his song "Cookies Pie and Cake," please post it. That's a hoot, considering my wife now and then goes on a campaign to stop me eating cookies-which will happen when Phoenix freezes over.
