Quick note on the deathlock, I had a guy try this on me in my gym a few weeks ago (though I believe it was on accident and I don't believe he knew he had a submission) and he gave up on it. It hurt, but you have to apply a lot of downward pressure to get the tap. Good stuff.
Its funny. i have long legs and am very flexible so immediately i got hooked on the rubber guard. But i whipped up my partner and he caught me in an indian death lock. It didnt look painful at all. I was like "dude i warm up with this stretch". But low and behold...i tapped -_-.
People need to stop posting bjj instructional videos longer than 2 minutes. when you talk more about the move than actually demonstrating the move, it makes me think that you know the move better in theory than in actual application; which is bad. show the move at a live pace, break it down step by step, then show it again. you dont need to go into the complete philosophy and history of the move.
I barely get caught in a lockdown at my gym, its very rare since people use the traditional half guard mainly. But when I am I'll be sure to master this counter, as well as teach it. On a side note, electric chairs have been pissing me off lately :p
taking it to the mmat... i jest found you on submissions 101 and thay was the only ones i would watch.any way keep kicking ass to the both of you. good videos!!!!!!
Well done. I like your video and this gets the discussion going between our camps and thus makes BOTH of us better. I have a new video going up about this and counters to counters ;-). As we know, NOTHING is 100% and that includes the lockdown, counters to it-anything.
Thank you Ari. I've really enjoyed watching your clips over the years. I couldn't agree with you more. The back and forth (counter for counter) method is a very effective and efficient means of making progress. I can't wait to see what you've come up with. I really liked the trick you showed in your body anaconda tips and tricks clip for when your opponent has a flexible ankle. I've put together a video expounding on escapes from that position as well.
Nut cracker, I thought he was talking about my wife.

i like IDL eaven if you don't get it, it opens their lock down(scorpion death lock) so i can start to pass to side cross

You can also get this from someone blocking the kneebar, or someone trying to sweep you from the scarfhold.

Also worth mentioning to bring your foot in as close to the guy's butt as possible to tighten up the Indian Death Lock.
