How long are freight trains in America usually? Here in the UK, we average about 25-30 cars on a train. The longest I've ever seen in 18 years is 43. America must be the ultimate paradise for train spotters with the vast expansive scenery, breath taking views, huge trains, a huge variety of trains and so much more. Even the most dedicated train spotter could barely even scratch the surface of American railways and American trains, even if he lived until he was about 100 years old.
Sadly, this SD80MAC probably has a coat of CSX "Dark Future" now. A message was sent out on CSX that ALL locomotives not in CSX colors need to be repainted immediatley
Nice video man!! My grandpa used to work for the L&N and CSX for 31 years until 2004! He knows all about the EK and the CC and the OLD road and the L&N! L&N built the EK from Patio to hazard before they built from Winchester north to Decoursey. And into cincy so it origanally came from Winchester and connected Louisville to hazard! The CC is still the CC subdivison!
Did you know that the CSX EK Sub used to go to Fleming-Neon in Pike County, KY to Louisville, KY now it goes from Patio, KY to Hazard, KY. what your looking at is the CSX Rock House Subdivision It was named that when CSX Huntington Division Split and took over CSX Corbin Division now it's CSX Huntington Division West and their is also a CSX Huntington Division East.
Fleming-Neon is actually in Letcher County where I grew up, not Pike County. But it's interesting to see how the division names have changed since my childhood days when it was L&N before all the mergers.
Wow, I envy you much for this catch! I LOVE those Conrail 80MAC's greatly. Im surprised CSX even has one still in Conrail Paint, & in good condition compared to some the Conrail units i have seen
Great video, Conrail! It is sad to see them gone now. My uncles and some of my weight lifting parteners worked for them. My dad chessie system. Too bad we will have Crapnandian railnames and Beaner FEROMEX on our rails soon. NAFTA! Busheconomics. No jobs for us plenty for the global economy.
Pretty neat. It was the first SD80MAC I have been able to capture, and still being in CR paint was a bonus. Guitars14 probably caught it hauling a load of coal down to the Georgia power plants.
Sounds great
