Canadian...especially French Canadian can understand all the pain of this people...My love come from Jewish family...His grandfather moves out from Europe during occupation..lot of dessilision and pain..All we can do its resist and don't accept any holocaust again!!!!!! Never!!!!
Jack Selig Yellen was born in Poland on July 6, 1892. He wrote some great songs including "Happy Days are here again" and "Aint She Sweet".
Of all his songs ....the one most covered by some of the worlds greatest singers - AL Jolson- Tom Jones- Sophie Tucker- Charles Aznavour- and so many more... is the famous classic 'My Yiddishe Momma".
Why people hate without reason and yet love for the same lack of reason is a mystery to me. Yet this hate I speak of only made me love those more that were hated and despised those that perpetuated it!
If Hitler and his henchmen had decided on nuclear weapon it might not have been Slavian, Jews and Gypsy at all. Conference in Zakopane (1940) - NKVD-Gestapo focused on extermination of Poles. The plan predicted some Polish slaves in factories in the Reich plus Germanized couple of millions of them in the former area. Everybody speaking about Lidice or Oradour-sur-Glane. Pacification was commonplace in Poland and USSR - ten thousands burnt alive, villages destroyed, children to germanize...
Very sad video, I always feel guilty when I see the things that happend because of my country, although my Generation was born many years after the WW2. But however jiddisch is a beautiful language, and I'm surprised how many sentences and words you can understand, if you speak german. Trough the holocaust Germany destroyed a beautiful and vide cultur of its own country, which will never exist again...
Thank you for hanging this video. I am thankful that my grandparents, parents, brother and sister we were all fay aways when these horrors happened, but even now I feel the pain. I am from the diaspora, a small town in the jungle in Peru, but I knew this song since I was little, in both yiddish and spanish!!! Hermoso, gracias y l'haim!
Еврейская мама - нечто особенное. Есть даже старый еврейский анекдот: Чем отличается еврейская мама от бультерьера. Ответ: Бультерьер рано или поздно отпускает.
i realise that i've never seen a photograph of my mother bearing the star with the j word inside, of my father, non plus, but he was not jew, pas vrai ?
While i'me getting old, i ask myself such questions...
Message to the Nazi cowards who enslaved European nations, tried to enslave the entire world (& make subservient to Nazi totalitarism), murder or replace all
non Arayans (Hitler caused the death of a total of 90 million people - that's historical fact) and murdered millions of innocent civilians including the Jews. You used superior, sneaky, military might to ravage many. But when the West and Russia stepped up to the plate, they destroyed you, cursed Nazi bastards, to dust!!! Burn in hell.
I knew before my bubbie died that once she was gone I wouldn't be able to listen to this. It's been almost 6 years and I still cry like a baby when I hear it.
Régine a une voix exceptionnelle. Elle quelque chose dans sa voix qui me plaît beaucoup. Cette chanson est un hommage aux mères du monde entier. Bravo Régine!
many of the photos are from the "Grand Raffle" the Big Round Up in Paris. The French police arrested 12,887 Jews on the night of July 16-17, 1942: 2000 men, 6000 women and 4,500 children. The Paris police dept. was so enthusiastic, that they also arrested 600 children who were not on their lists.
I just watched the Deutsche Film "Rosenstrasse" set in 1943. Very moving story about a group of German wives that stood for a very long time outside a detention center in Berlin, and demanded that their Judische husbands be released.
I can understan everyone. My Granpa was arresteted by Gestapo and put into Motelupiech for helping the Jewishish family. My father managed to escape. He was 12 then. When I was 19 I went to prison under martial law in Poland. My father was not amused either. But I will be listening to this music in his memory.
The music is amazing! The voice, grand. But the Yiddish, well, it's obviously "learned" because if Regine spoke the language, she would pick up on the errors in the words. Too bad. Still, very beautiful!
Regine Zylberberg.- French chanteuse. Born on December 26, 1929 in Belgium to Polish-Jewish parents. Was in Paris, France in 1940 at the time of the Nazi

With the Nazi occupation of France during World War II and the deportation of Jews, the Chagalls fled Paris, seeking asylum at Villa Air-Bel in Marseille, where the American journalist Varian Fry assisted in their escape from France through Spain and Portugal. In 1941, the Chagalls settled in the United States of America.".

wunderschönes lied, aber ich halts nicht nur mit den jiddischen mamme, sondern mit allen müttern dieser welt: wir wollen unsere kinder nicht verlieren!!wir haben sie nicht für irgendwelche kriege oder sonstwas geboren!
Wonderfully beautiful song, but I consider it not only about the yiddisha (Jewish) mama but also about all the mothers of this world: we do not want to lose our children! We didn't bear them for some war or other!

Also, her enunciation or dialect is not usual for the Yiddish as a whole. What is her origin?
And the words in the first stanza are not the "usual" ones heard in most versions.
