@CCPGAMEMASTERSuck I played EVE on and off for about 3 years (short attention span, haha) and I never had a problem. The game works fine if you don't push it, the staff are capable and quick to respond and the majority of the player-base is friendly enough. So what was it? "Lag problems"? AFK Cloakers? "Useless" updates? Please, enlighten me.
Thank god I started playing eve a couple of weeks after this. Like the way they make fun of it. Great corporation, nobody treats its fans/users as good as ccp does.
you gotta admit deleting the Boot.ini file was the most ridiculous thing u could do... I mean no game should have ANY reason to touch it... lol ridiculous
It was not deleted. It was overwritten by the boot.ini that the CCP Blue Network uses. And it was overwritten because someone didn't read the f***ing manual.
On the other hand - this shows that XP has served it's time and needs to be replaced by something new. It's too easy to kill the entire OS. Try that with Vista or Seven...

well, in my book, any "upgrade" that requires you to spend a significant amount of money just to be able to run the OPERATING SYSTEM at the same performance as the previous version is 100% FAIL.
and since i dont care about flashy lights and well.. directx10 flashy lights, which is all thats new, it also means vista is a tragedy
its strange though how each time they make an OS it just has to be 200% slower... is there some WOW effect here? WOW this OS is so good i have to live with cpu usage even when its dormant!
They didn't have a reason to touch it, they were trying to touch c:\blah\Eve\boot.ini and they just left out the first part of the path !
If you had the game on another drive, or were running Vista you were fine. There were two dumb things, 1 was getting the path wrong, the second was that a game file was named the same as an essential windows file kept in c:\
The file had the same name as a system file because the file was originally a system file on the server. Eventually, this file was moved from the server to the client. They still should have changed the name when they moved it to the client, but to be fair, they probably didn't think that it would be possible to mix up the two files. Unfortunately, they were wrong.
this will happen too with the guy that walks in with a plan to sell non vanity item on the NEX store...
