I remember seeing them in Petaluma in '81 before 867-5309 came out, I had the first album and loved it. They put on a great show to a sadly undersized audience, but they played their hearts out. Also on the bill was Great Buildings, some of whom later formed The Rembrandts.Great show by both bands, I still remember it.

I've seen much worse performers become way more successful. A few that come to mind are Neil Young, Metallica, Kurt Cobain couldn't hold a tune but is considered a rock god, neither could Courtney Love, The Doors, specifically Jim Morrison writer of great poems horrible singer... I could go on and on. Tommy Tutone is much better than you want to give him credit for. He is no Placido Domingo sure but, he adds soul and feeling to every performance and that is what makes music rememberable.
