Has anyone read all of these books? The last one I have is "the winds of dune" if you have read past this one what's the name of the next book . Please help a fan out ! Aloha
@Terramax Stop watching so much porn. Geez.. A MILF isn't the term for every woman over the age of 18, It's for a mother who is at least in her mid 40's. XD
:o is there a movie or miniseries of Dune Messiah? I'd really love to see Chani's death... I mean it is so sad ;-; poor Paul.. Somehow he an Alia had the same fate :0
Duncan and Alia are so cute together... I almost start to cry when I think about them together and about Duncan crying in the topter... ;-; awe!
@o3oSeyren The "Children of Dune" Mini-series was in fact a combination of both Dune Messiah and Children of Dune. Thus, it includes the events of Dune Messiah, including Channi's death.
I'm confused, didn't she kill her grandfather (the big guy in the red robe with the red hair) as a child ....so how come he's alive and arguing with her older self?
@k24601 To correct the other guy: NOT a hallucination. The Reverand Mothers, or others who've underwent the Spice Agony and survived, have complete access to the entire genetic memory of the (female side) of their ancestry. Which means, yes, they're automatic voyeurs to their parents' getting it on.
The Haderach (Paul) was bred to be able to acces the MALE half as well. Or, basically, all of human memory in one being. Somehow, his sister also got the right combination. As did his children.
@k24601 And, for whatever reason, Alia brings up her grandfather a lot in her genetic memory. It's really just a flimsy excuse to bring back Baron Harkonen: AKA- the most truly impressive villain in the history of villainy.
@Xarfax321 her being a tragic figure and one for pity yes. Plus you tend to notice thats where Within Temptation and Evanesence.. music and lyric wise are going.
Remember she was possessed ... partly willing partly coerced.
Well she was rather ruthless and fanatical even without the baron. She probably never would've been what we'd call "nice". But then again, practically noone in Dune is. Especially not the Atreides.
Having read the book but not seen the miniseries, this is a badass video, perfect song for what's going on in the story even though I think evanescence gets old sometimes...;)
@Solus77 Spoilers? The books have been available since the 1970s. This TV show has been on DVD for some time. And here she doesn't even jump out a window like she did in the book. Oops...
Her tragic life began because of her mother's choice...which was really out of her hands anyway. In this sense her life and death was somewhat Greek in origin.
@Panax07 That's because she was possessed. Without the Baron in her head, she could have had a long, healthy life. This was the folly of the thinking of the Bene Gesserit that Herbert underscored with Jessica's thoughts at the end of Children of Dune: that if they hadn't been so afraid of anyone 'pre-born', so willing to automatically condemn them as abomination worthy of immediate death, they could have found a way to preserve Alia's mind with a technique like what the twins found.
dam...I cried for Alia in the book. she was thrust into so much without her chosing. so childish yet the knowledge of the ages within her. no experiences of her own to silence all those past lives. wouldve driven me mad too
Alia is one of the most tragic and fulfilling characters in all fiction. It always kills me when Danial Amavia says like such a child, "I want my brother." Brilliant song choice.

She was a sympathetic character in Dune and Dune Messiah. I always thought thowing her to the wolves was one of Herbert's greatest mistakes.

I know what you mean. But -- you must understand she is the female equivalent of Hamlet.

I love this, but I like Alia as a child better.
The best actress for Alia was Alicia Witt I think.
Could I possibly persuade you to make a video from the 1984 Dune with Alicia Witt?
I can't make videos for myself right now..
Anything you can think of that I could do in return I would gladly do.
